In the sixth adventure in the #1 New York Times bestselling series, Anita Blake’s unique skills make her a wanted woman—by vampire, by werewolf, and by a hit man... Though she’s dating a vampire and a werewolf, Anita is keeping them at arm’s length. Which isn’t easy considering that Jean-Claude is the master vampire of St. Louis and Richard Zeeman is the sexiest junior high school teacher she’s ever seen. Just to complicate Anita’s already messy life, someone has put a price on her head. Love cannot save her this time, so she turns to Edward, hit man extraordinaire for help. But finding the person behind it won’t be easy, because she’s made a lot of enemies—human and otherwise.

"A good book, but given what happened in this particular story, I'm now wondering where this is where the series "gets weird" as was told by many others who have read Hamilton's works. Most everyone agrees that the first few books are really good, but then they just go off on a weird tangent that doesn't really follow the rest of the books. We'll see though. This one was decent enough to warrant a follow-up."

" Brilliant in book form, thoroughly enjoying the series in Audiobook as welll! "
— Daz, 9/23/2018" I think this was my fav book so far. Not just because of the sex (finally) but also this was really just based around Anita since she had a hit out on her. I'm sad about her and Richard though and I don't really know what will happen with them. "
— Heather, 2/19/2014" I'm not gonna hide this review. So. If you don't want spoilers: don't read this. Anyway, I love the choices Anita makes in this book. *sighs happily* I hate how emo Richard is. I liked him at first. Not so much as the series progressed. "
— Fabrianna, 2/15/2014" Go ahead, read it. You wont regret it. "
— Jessica, 2/11/2014" finally! Jean Claude and Anita!!!! "
— Keltie, 1/17/2014" Anita must choose between her two boyfriends, a werewolf alpha and the Master vampire of the city. All the while a contract is out on her life. A large contract. "
— Elizabeth, 1/15/2014" Love everything she writes...it's great fun "
— Pamela, 1/6/2014" As usual, action packed, but I was starting to get a little tired with the seemingly endless "dance" between her two boyfriends. At least we finally reach somewhat of a resolution which I won't go into, but as always a lot of things happen to bring things to tight and exciting conclusion. "
— Karen, 12/17/2013" Fun read set in St. Louis. "
— Rebecca, 12/10/2013" Finally, Anita gets some action! Love this book!!!!!! "
— Brenda, 12/2/2013" Awful. I love Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance but this is horrible. "
— Sulenna, 11/24/2013" It just gets better and better... I absolutely love Anita's shift in character as she developes. It's not an easy, pretty thing but something to be feared. I can't wait to see what happens next! "
— J., 11/14/2013" This is my favorite book so far in this series... "
— Sabrina, 4/17/2013" Nothing is ever easy for the woman they call the Vampire Hunter, as she becomes the prey of a faceless enemy, who pursues her relentlessly, no mater who--or what--she turns to for help. "
— Ayla, 3/4/2013" Ok so the best part of this book is that Richard is no longer a leading man. I just didn't like the character, but in reality I don't like Anita much. One of my favorite characters is Edward and I hope to see more of him. "
— Haydeed1, 8/3/2012" Another freaking amazing Anita Blake novel. Enough said. "
— Jasmine, 5/5/2012" This series took a sharp left turn somewhere after book 5... I continue reading mainly because I have invested so much in this series and these characters. Very interesting at first but poorly written and so far out of the realm of believability in the later books. (And yet I read them....) "
— Beth, 2/1/2012" I've said it before and I'll say it again: Edward's character is great and there should be more of him. But Anita will probably just sleep with him whether he wants to or not. "
— Samara, 9/15/2011" This was my favorite of the Anita Blake books so far, tighter plotting and better characters. AND we are finally getting somewhere with the sexing. Although now I fear we begin the inevitable slide into porn. "
— Maggie, 7/31/2011" what a ride,cant put it down.!!! "
— Dan, 4/16/2011" Anita and Edward Became better friends , Also Anita finaly Open her heart to Jean-Claud . Rechard Learned That Anita Has No problem with Killing people inorder to Survive a attack . Also In this Book she contracted Leapored Lycanthropy from a wereleapord She fought and Killed. "
— Adam, 4/5/2011" This was my favorite of the series, where Anita and Jean-Claude finally get together. "
— Jocelyn, 3/28/2011" I liked this book the best of the series so far. My friend told me to give it another chance, so I am. And I'm glad I did. I enjoyed this book. Anita seemed more human and less of a Robot. "
— Tacie, 3/4/2011" I believe this is the one where Jean-Claude finally seduces Anita. Or was it the other way around?<br/>My absolute FAVORITE of all the Anita books. "
