When a fifteen-year-old girl is abducted by vampires, it’s up to U.S. Marshal Anita Blake to find her. And when she does, she’s faced with something she’s never seen before: a terrifyingly ordinary group of people—kids, grandparents, soccer moms—all recently turned and willing to die to avoid serving a master. And where there’s one martyr, there will be more… But even vampires have monsters that they’re afraid of. And Anita is one of them…

"Kiss the Dead was an amazing read. I couldn't put it down. I probably finished it in a day, ignoring just about everyone to continue to find out what was going to happen. This heart-stopping novel is well worth the read, and focuses far less on Anita's succubus issues."

“Hamilton remains one of the most inventive and exciting writers in the paranormal field.”
— Charlaine Harris, author of the Sookie Stackhouse Mysteries" As good as is remember! Didn’t like the change in accent for Micah, all the previous narrations haven’t included that and a couple of names are wrong (as narrated] shows how many (too many) times I’ve read the books! But enjoyed still a great listen! "
— Daz, 9/23/2018" I don't agree with her way of life but it is a very interesting story and the love arena is just as interesting as complicated "
— Amanda, 2/20/2014" I like Hamilton's alternate world, and I think her exploration of some of the consequences of such a world is interesting. But the sex holds no appeal for me - either it bores me (another screaming orgasm!)or disturbs me (bondage.) Unfortunately, in most of her books, it is so integral to the plot line that it can't be skipped. At least this book didn't get there for more than 150 pages. "
— Michale, 2/19/2014" Like another reviewer wrote, at this point I am hate-reading this series-- and feeling bad about myself. The series is TERRIBLE now compared to the first 8? books. Why can't I stop? Where is my self-respect? "
— AJ, 2/7/2014" At the beginning its mainly nothing but crime scenes and the adrenaline rush of the hunt. You start right of the bat with heart pumping action but then it all just seems to end. The hunt for the missing girl was fast and not so complicated as other cases she's had. The same thing seems to happen with the case of the vampire master Benjamin and his followers. I found it a little redundant how in the beginning she explains in detail about some of the men and the situations she's gone through from the past books. It seems to drag some of the story out, plus there's a considerable amount of repetitiveness to her thoughts as well. I did notice more than once that there was recycled lines from previous chapters. The actual story was good with a new power struggle threat but I believe it was cut short. There was no plot building, everything unraveled quite fast and the book ended abruptly. I felt like not enough time or thought was put into the story although the idea of the new threat was good. I really enjoy the Anita Blake series but with this installment I was a bit disappointed. Although short it was as an okay book but hoping for better with any book to follow. "
— Mar, 2/6/2014" Why oh why do I continue to read this series? At least I got this one from the library instead of buying. I'm calling it quits after this one. For real this time. "
— Ann, 1/29/2014" I loved it, just as good as the rest of the series. I can't wait till the next book. "
— Amanda, 1/22/2014" Plot was good, but flagged a little in the middle. A lot of progress with Anita's relationships in this one. I like how the characters continue to develop in her recent books. "
— Lori, 12/30/2013" Good old fashioned Anita. "
— Liza, 11/16/2013" The book was okay. Just okay. I felt like that the story wasn't strong enough. I did like the scenes between Anita + Micah + Nathaniel. I can't stand Sin & Asher. "
— A, 10/4/2013" This is probably the worst book I have read in a really long time. I think the series has finally lost me, despite my long-term investment to it. "
— Traci, 8/26/2013" Getting tired of the series, and, maybe just the Kindle edition, but there should not be so many typos, spelling and grammatical errors. But I can't just stop reading them. I've put so much time into the whole thing. How's it going to end? "
— Diana, 8/16/2013" I'm a loyal Anita fan and will continue to read until the bitter end... I admit that the first five books in the series reeled me in and captivated me (the last few would not have been able to do the same). "
— Robyn, 7/30/2013" This was disappointing. I've rarely been bored with Anita Blake, but this one I was definitely bored. The only good parts were the few appearances by Jean-Claude. "
— Anna, 7/5/2013" I like that this book has Anita back to police work instead of just sex scenes. I feel there were a few plot lines that were left hanging. Hopefully that will be rectified in future books. Overall I liked this book. "
— Erica, 3/20/2013" No my favorite Anita Blake book. "
— Kate, 11/23/2012" There are much better Anita books than this one. "
— Bridget, 9/25/2012" Well, thankfully, the author is rediscovering plot again, and not as filler between sex scenes. Which makes it a better book than others in the series, IMHO. "
