"Of course as always I love Anita! This was a really short book so I was a little disappointed but the story was good and I liked all the extras about where she got the idea and what not. I was sad I didn't see much of Jean Claude but that's okay. I can't wait for Bullet to come out!"

" Horrible. The actual story was so short I would have expected to see it in a collection of novellas. It seems to me Ms. Hamilton has gotten lazy and relies in her reputation from the earlier novels in the series now to sell books. "
— Zetabodhi, 2/18/2014" I usually am very anal about reading series in order but I needed this book for another challenge and broke my rule and suffered for it because I for the life of me was totally lost and could not keep up with all of Anita's men! The story itself was actually pretty good because I love stories with raising the dead and all that and I love the character of Anita! I know for sure I would benefit and enjoy the book even more when I go back and start from the beginning which is what I aim to do! "
— JenniferJ, 2/2/2014" Another novella, and kind of a waste of time. This series could do without them and concentrate more on the actual stories than little fluffy pieces here and there, because it's not a super strong series IMO to begin with. "
— Ali, 1/31/2014" Very quick read. A little story about not being able to let go, starring Anita Blake, necromancer, and the zoo she carries around inside. "
— Kathleen, 1/31/2014" One of my favorite lines comes at the end of this Book! "
— J, 1/9/2014" Wow that was a fast read. It would be cool to see a fanfic of the CSI: Preternatural trying to investigate and explain the outcome of this book. Hmm,hard to explain without spoilers... "
— Cupof, 12/26/2013" I'm kinda glad to be done with these... ready to vget back into some YA books. Gonna get back to #4 of The Mortal Instruments, one of my all time favorite series. "
— Stacey, 12/23/2013" A bit shorter than her normal novels, but still has all the classical elements of a Anita Blake novel. "
— Phalon, 12/20/2013" 2 Feb, 2010 "
— Richard, 12/12/2013" Pretty fast read, even for me. Was disappointed Jean-Claude didn't make an appearance. "
— Jessika, 11/21/2013" Good story, but a total cop out. "
— harlequin, 10/12/2013" I liked this book. We saw the Anita of Old *lol* and good old fashioned zombie raising! It was to short, but otherwise I really enjoyed this book. "
— Shifter, 8/27/2013" I'd compare it to a Janet Evanovich between the numbers book. To short and a lil' disapointing. "
— Rhonda, 5/28/2013" This was an ok novella and would've gotten a 4 out of me if it weren't for that restaurant scene in the beginning. I wanted to gouge my eyes out after reading that worthless and painful piece of crap. "
— A, 11/24/2012" good but short i was waiting for this scenario since i started reading this series im glad that it was done and in didn't took so long to tell the story "
— fabby, 11/14/2012" Yet another Anita Blake book. I've read all the books in the series to this point. I have to say that the series has started going down hill and most of the books are just filler between sex scenes. Where has all the story gone. I don't know if I'll keep reading this series. "
— Gary, 9/17/2012" Disappointing - the only reason to read this one is it introduces characters which are in Bullet. "
— Jane, 8/5/2012" PLOT!!! And one tiny sex scene! Let the angels rejoice! "
— Kit, 7/7/2012" Reading Hamilton's blog, as well as her books makes things more interesting. I can easily see Anita's struggle with becoming the monsters she fights. I thought this book particularly marked a turning point in Anita and her attitude toward herself and her encroaching monster-ness. "
— Kirsten, 5/8/2012" Enjoyable. Not one of her very best but recommended. "
— Charles, 5/5/2012" This was my least favourite in this whole series...only a very short book (thank gosh)...I felt I had to read it as it was part of the ongoing saga, but no where near as good as the rest of the series. "
— Cara, 2/14/2012" This was the weirdest book I've ever read.. I just jumped into the middle of the series. Just reading the plot summaries and this book.. Well I don't feel the need to read the rest or start at the beginning. This book kept my attention but clearly isnt my style! "
— Carleigh, 12/26/2011" Better than her last few books-- more action and less torrid sex. Sadly, no Jean-Claude. "
— AJ, 5/11/2011" Not one of her better books. Highly OK ... it almost seemed like she was forced to write a book and couldnt think of a strong story line. "
— Aparna, 5/3/2011" I really thought the series might save itself.....Skin Trade was so good again.....and now this. Not happy. I'll still read Bullet when it comes out in paper back, though. "
— Ellie, 4/16/2011" Just wish the story would've been longer... "
— Angela, 4/12/2011" Finally! Anita Blake is loosening up. Less "OH NO! What will people think of me being a real-life succubus/hussy?!" And more ass kicking, no apologies Anita, but this time it's for the men she loves. I enjoyed this. "
— Charity, 4/12/2011" an ok book, light reading, nothing that taxes the brain "
— Matt, 4/10/2011" Sad. The writing quality, and also the length, were very disappointing. I sense I might stop reading her books if this continues.

Also... wtf was up with the margins in the paperback??? It's like they purposefully huge to make the book seem longer than it was. "
— Jennifer, 4/8/2011" More like a short story than a novel. "
— Becca, 4/1/2011" Short, interesting at times, introducing one or two new characters who may be useful later. Sadly the bonus essay about her writing process pretty much reads like her blog entries and are about as helpful. The comics at the end were a nice little bonus, though. "
