"How many more levels can the ardeur possibly reach? We have now firmly entered the world of porn. Although there is still a smidgen of storyline going on somewhere in the sidelines, who cares? It's sex galore. Multiple partners, in front of others, all kind of positions - now if Anita would stop being so stuck up about the whole thing, it would make some sense. Sometimes I just wanted to bitch-slap her. But, then, I am not really complaining, I read this in record time and immediately started the next one in the series.... Hamilton must have a really interesting sex life. Oh, and can someone please put down Richard?"

" Were's, vamps, magic, zombies... and to top it all off, a new villain that makes the previous dozen seem like weiners. "
— Becci, 2/15/2014" This book didn't have any of what drew me into the series to begin with. Disappointing. "
— Brinda, 2/2/2014" I'd loved the end and parts of the rest were wonderful, but there were parts that just got bogged down with the same issues over and over again. I love Anita's character, but she got annoying at times during this book. I wish I could have liked it more since there was a lot of good drama, but I wanted strangle Anita every now and then. Also, Hamilton has gotten more carried away with sex each book. I wish she'd go back to the original books that were plot driven with lots of action and suspense doused with a little sexual tension, rather than try and see how many men she can put in one woman's bed. If I hadn't started with the first book I don't think I'd still be reading these. However, I'm one of those people that have to finish series no matter what so I feel obligated to keep reading. "
— Heather, 1/30/2014" I love her books and this is one of the best. Steamy and complex and fast paced "
— Darlene, 1/3/2014" I read a review that let me know this book was about vampire politics and sex and not the old Anita. Oddly, since I knew that I enjoyed the book better. It seems that I wasn't expecting more so I enjoyed the story better... "
— Deanna, 12/29/2013" This book took me almost 3 months to finish. I have nothing good to say about it. "
— Tiah, 12/25/2013" Well developed character's in the earlier books in the series. About the 5th book or so in the "Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter" series, it turns into smut, but by then I was so engrossed in the lives of the character's I just had to keep reading the series. "
— Renfairegoddess, 12/25/2013" After reading this I decided to give up on Ms. Hamilton. The books had moved too far from the original nature of the character. I'm done. "
— Petra, 12/19/2013" I wanted some light fiction to get me through the cold winter. Taking me a while to recall who all the characters are but I have been lent the next 6 or so in the series so I have plenty to get my teeth into (so to speak). "
— Lucy, 12/19/2013" Good book for wanton sex. Not much else. Good fluff book. :-) "
— Maica, 11/1/2013" It was good to see her go back to the Vamp politics "
— Reb, 10/13/2013" I've lost count on how many times I've reread this book. "
— Cassie, 10/7/2013" Again character overload, weak plot, and more of Anita starting to cry and moan ALL the time. I feel like the issues and conflicts that arise in previous books, NEVER get brought back up or resolved. Starting to lose hope.... "
— Ariel, 2/14/2013" Another great book from Laurell. I loved it!! Alot of people complain about them being soft porn and all I can say about that is bring it on. It is rare that you get enough plot in Erotica so when you get great sex scenes in Urban Fantasy it is a BIG bonus!! Keep up the great writing Laurell!! "
— Jamie, 11/12/2012" Not my favorite Anita Blake book because not much happens. Anita's powers are growing (along with everyone tied to her) and this book explores that. That's about it. "
— Cris, 6/28/2012" I really liked it. Can not wait to read what happens next. "
— Cheryl, 3/9/2012" I love this series and Anita Blake is one of my all-time favorite characters, but this book just didn't quite do it for me. Reading it is a necessity if you're keeping up with the series, but it's just not what I'd call one of the best Anita Blake books. "
— Megan, 9/17/2011" I really enjoyed this book. Some of the other Anita Blake series can drag on but this one held my attention. "
— Stacey, 5/11/2011" My fav of the Anita Blake series... "
— Rochelle, 4/14/2011" This book was mainly about sex. I kept reading it to get to the story line...but as it turned out, it didn't really have one. "
— Whitney, 3/28/2011" I remember this one being really disgusting. "
— Caroline, 3/22/2011" Strácala som sa v postavách, doteraz neviem kolko levov tam bolo a ani to ktorí patrili Augustinovi a ktorí boli domáci. Scénu s baletným predstavením by som si rada pozrela aj v skutocnosti. "
— Beáta, 3/20/2011" Best threesome scene written out that I have ever read. The power they fed off of others in the room, while doing it...well, it made me want to smoke a ciggerate when I was done. "
— Kristi, 3/10/2011" I agree that there was a lot of arguing but I think it needed to be done for the development of the characters.... "
— Laura, 3/2/2011" I own this book from the Anita Blake series. To be honest, I haven't fully red it because this series has several books to it and I want to read them from Book #1 to the last. But I do have books from it. "
— Lauren, 2/22/2011" I didn't hate this one as much as the previous ones. I cannot let myself stop reading them b/c I still have 2 that I own. Note to self...just b/c a series starts out good does not mean you should invest in further volumes... "
— Karla, 2/12/2011" It's good but swinging more towards the sex. Although Danse Macabre does seem to be exploring Anita's developing powers more. "
— Sarah, 2/10/2011" I loved the books at the start of this series. The last few books haven't really had a story. The "themes" have been sex, sex and more sex. How about very detailed sex. I keep hoping the next book is going to be back on track with a good storyline. "
— Teresa, 2/9/2011" Addicted to these books, each one just keeps getting better and better! "
— Adriana, 1/26/2011" Meredith Gentry is a half-human half-fey princess of the Unseelie Court. Love this series!! "
