Publisher Description

#1 New York Times bestselling author Laurell K. Hamilton offers a sexy, suspenseful novel of human—and inhuman—passions, as vampire hunter Anita Blake must repay a favor to a man almost as dangerous as the ancient evil she's about to face... Edward is a hit man, specializing in monsters, vampires, shapeshifters, anything and everything. There are people like Anita who do it legal, but Edward doesn't sweat the legalities, or, hell, the ethics. He's an equal opportunity killer. Anita may be one of the few friends that Edward has, but it’s like being friends with a tame leopard. It may curl up on the foot of your bed and let you pet its head, but it can still eat your throat out...

"As a trucker over the road, this audio book kept me interested. I listen on xm radio. I drive from 10pm-8am. What happened to Olaf? He was way out there, bring him back as a vampire nut bag in all his glory and let Anita handle him, but make it good to where she almost can't handle him. Thank L.K. Hamilton for keeping me company over those dark nights thoroughly entertained."

" Probably the last truly good installment of the Anita Blake series before it descends into vampire/werewolf/necromancer porn hell. "

" You can tell Hamilton does not like the desert southwest by how she describes it. I liked the story except the things she got wrong about Albuquerque, like the road Lomas is Lomos in her story. It was great having an Edward heavy tale. "

" Overall, this was a refreshing change of pace in the series. I am glad it got away from Anita's relationships, and focused on Edward instead. This was a glimpse of the old Anita that I originally liked. But I didn't like the ending--not all the loose ends were tied up, and the fight with the big bad guy seemed too easy. "

" Ugh this was not a easy read. It just lacked SOMETHING. Idk. I could not read it for any length of time. While reading it I wanted to go do other things. It just did not hold my attention. "

" This book is very different to all the others as it focuses on Anita and Edwards relationship. Edward comes to call in his favour that Anita owed him. This book reveals more about Edward and his life beyond his work. The storyline is brilliant as always and this time the case brings both Anita and Edward into a even more dangerous situation. The lack of both Richard and Jean-Claude brings this book down a bit in my opinion as I always find they bring that extra star quality. "

" I'm still enjoying Anita's character development, and it was very interesting to see Edward in his own f'd up world. I'm also very happy that this series is so long, since I just want more and more of it. "

" In my estimation, the best of the series. This one is not cluttered up with dozens of lovers that Anita has to manage. Just Anita doing what she does best, being a badass. If you like the series but get a bit fatigued by Anita's crowded and overly complicated love life, you WILL like this one. "

" After book 8, I pretty much gave up on Hamilton. I'd read erotica if I just wanted a book full of sex. It definitely lacks of alot of plot and Anita Blake just becomes more interested in her harem of men. "
