"This book has a lot of action and I love the early Anita Blake books because it really focuses on Anita and who she is. This book focuses on Anita and her animator powers more than most of the others and I think it makes them really interesting. Hamilton's characters and settings are great and I think, as long as you can handle Blood, death and gore, that anyone who likes Fantasy thrillers will like this book."

" There is a hell of a lot of atmosphere in this one. Anita continues to be a badass, but there are parts where this one is genuinely scary. Probably the best one out of the first six books. "

" Second in the series and even more violent than the last one. I like a creepy book every now and then and this sure fits the bill, but couldn't read too many of them in a row... too much gore, too much unbelievable gum-shoe, hard boiled but in a hot chick body musings and too many close calls. " I liked this book better than the first one of the series. It doesn't deal so much with vampires but you get to get to know Jean-Claude a little better, which is great. In this book the villains are more powerful and scary which makes Anita step-up to the plate in order to survive. "
