Publisher Description

Dr. Amen has pioneered the clinical use of brain SPECT imaging in psychiatry. His clinics' signature brain scans have discovered that the illnesses of anxiety and depression are, in large part, the result of brain dysfunction. Scans have also determined that anxiety and depression often occur together, and there are seven distinct types of disorders. HEALING ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION reveals the major anxiety and depression centers of the brain and offers guidelines and tools to determine the specific type of anxiety and depression from which one suffers, and providing a comprehensive program for treating each type. This is a groundbreaking guide to conquering these devastating disorders.

"This is one of the most helpful books I've read about anxiety and depression disorders. It really helped me to see the organic side of the disorders, and to wash off the stigma of disorder having to do with personality (which it does, but personality, again, is organic too). A recommended read."

" I consider myself pretty informed when it comes to depression and anxiety, so I found this book relatively uninformative. It didn't really tell me much that I didn't already know. It was definitely good information for others seeking info and help though. "

" This was a very informative book. I did find it a little repetitive though. I like how it goes over many different ways to "heal" ADD, including exercise, diet, medication, etc. I don't like how he makes it seem like medication is necessary. "
