"I read this book (as an audiobook of CDs) shortly after reading Dr. Amen's other similar book, Magnificent Mind at Any Age, which was about twice as long but covered more material and in greater depth. Despite the fact that CYBCYB was shorter and somewhat less in depth, it was nonetheless very worthwhile reading. Yes, it was sort of like hearing MMaAA again, but it was shorter, more to the point, and a very good, still interesting review of much of the same material covered in MMaAA. In fact, I sort of wish I had read CYBCYB first as an introduction to the more extensive coverage in MMaAA, and although the topics were similar, the anecdotes were not the same, so it was further interesting reading (listening). If you a already truly serious about taking care of your brain, I would go with the longer MMaAA, but if you are just getting into it, you might want to start with this one CYBCYB because it is a bit more manageable. BTW, CYBCYB is read by the author himself, but MMaAA is not. MMaAA gives quite extensive information on which parts of the brain do what and what effects occur when there is too much or too little stimulation going on in those parts. It also gives a lot of information about what nutritional supplements one can take to stimulate or calm down those particular areas to product a salubrious effect. CYBCYB gives some of the same information but not in quite the same depth. With either book one could start treating oneself with supplements to improve brain function in certain areas of the brain to produce focused effects (at least in theory); I just think the longer MMaAA is probably a bit more thorough. I find Dr. Amen's writings very approachable, and despite the fact that I have medical background to help me along, I think that even a layreader would find either of these books fascinating and extremely useful, assuming one had a concern about the health and continued development of their brain and its future functioning."

" There was a lot in this book that was not new information. Yes, I know should drink more water, stay away from alcohol, take omega 3 supplements, get more sleep, meditate everyday and so on. Most of it was fairly intuitive. And i got slightly annoyed since no one call follow ALL these rules ALl the time (well not me) However, I did like reading about the scientific evidence behind how the brain and body connect with respect to all the things we should and should not be doing for our health. I also found a lot of the information on supplements helpful. I think it's important to read these types of books once in a while to jump start a much needed health kick or address some not so good habits that are having a negative impact on your life in some way. Dr. amens research is very interesting and useful. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to know WHY we should be doing all of the things we hear about everyday and how they directly impact our body. "
