In Ava’s dreams, her son, Noah, looks just the way she remembers him: a sweet two-year-old in rolled-up jeans and a red sweatshirt. When Ava wakes, the agonizing truth hits her all over again. Noah went missing two years ago, and his body has never been found. Almost everyone, including Ava’s semi-estranged husband, Wyatt, assumes the boy drowned after falling off the dock near their Church Island home. Ava has spent most of the past two years in and out of Seattle mental institutions, shattered by grief and unable to recall the details of Noah’s disappearance. Now she’s back at Neptune’s Gate, the family estate she once intended to restore to its former grandeur. Slowly, her strength is returning. But as Ava’s mind comes back into focus, her suspicions grow. Despite their apparent concern, Ava can’t shake the feeling that her family, and her psychologist, know more than they’re saying. But are they really worried for her well-being — or anxious about what she might discover? Unwilling to trust those around her, Ava secretly visits a hypnotist to try and restore her memories. But the strange visions and night terrors keep getting worse. Ava is sure she’s heard Noah crying in the nursery, and glimpsed him walking near the dock. Is she losing her mind, or is Noah still alive? Ava won’t stop until she gets answers, but the truth is more dangerous than she can imagine. And the price may be more than she ever thought to pay…

"Romantic Suspense novels are not usually my type but this was more suspense than romance. However I did get a little tired of Ava's obsession with Noah. (and I am a mother) I have read Jacksons' "Wicked" series and they were excellent>"
— Deb (4 out of 5 stars)
" Excellent from start to finish "
— Patricia, 2/9/2014" A heart racing thriller! "
— Cheryl, 2/7/2014" I like to be honest in my reviews so here I go... this book was okay. Very slow read. I like a book to grab me from the beginning and not want to put it down till the end. The start of this book was honestly a bit on the slow side but if you get to the middle then it gets interesting and weird but then finishes with a bang. This is the story of Ava who starts the book as a depressed mother of a missing or dead? child Noah she halfway thru the book wakes up and realizes the people around her are not who they claim to be. What happened to her son Noah? Who killed him ? or was he just a dream? Worth reading it's a decent mystery but not my favorite book my Lisa Jackson. "
— Dawn, 2/6/2014" Just started this last night...it is a little creepy. Going to try not to read it late at night to save some nightmares. "
— Carey, 2/6/2014" Slow to get going, but very good finish. "
— Barbara, 1/22/2014" I gave this mystery a 4+. There are a lot of twists and turns and at times it can be heart-wrenching. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and looking forward to reading more of Lisa Jackson's books. "
— Susan, 1/11/2014" This book was great with twists and turns. Thought I had figured it out but it was even more complicated than I suspected. There are a lot of family secrets in the plot. "

— Jillian, 1/9/2014" fascinating psychological thriller "
— Joanne, 1/9/2014" The story was good, but the main character was wimpy and whiney. It grated on me after a time. "
— Lauren, 12/29/2013" Possibly the most dysfunctional family on the planet, this book will keep you guessing till the very end. "
— Tracy, 12/24/2013" I don't even know why I picked this one up from the library. I didn't want to be a dick and give it only one star but to me this was trite and predictable. I was sick in bed and I couldn't really concentrate on much more so I finished this. It ended just like I thought it would. Sigh. "
— Erika, 12/17/2013" Decent murder mystery, kept me guessing! "
— Cara, 12/8/2013" Very good story but the first half was repeating the same stuff over and over. Book could have been 100-150 pages shorter and really good. It started moving and got really good 1/2 way through. Worth reading but you have to get through the first half. Would give it 3 1/2 stars. "
— Doris, 12/8/2013" As much as I hate doing it, I had to abandon this book. After 20 chapters I still couldn't keep the characters straight, or their purpose in the story. Sorry Ms. Jackson, but your title in this case is appropriate. "
— Dottie, 10/11/2013" I enjoyed this book. The twists and turns never ended "
— Rhona, 10/4/2013" 1.99 on kindle "

— Lottie, 2/18/2013" The book is thrilling enough, but the strange plot twists in the end; I didn't like them. "
— Ymke, 12/7/2012" I enjoyed this book but found around the middle it got slow and tedious then picked up again towards the end. Hard to get into, but liked it towards the end. "
