For the past three months, Eve Renner has struggled to remember the night she was nearly killed and her lover was tried for murder. She remembers getting the anxious call from a friend from her past: “Meet me at the cabin. I’ve got evidence.” She remembers seeing that friend lying in a pool of blood. And she remembers a horrifying glimpse of her lover Cole Dennis’s face as a gunshot plunged her into darkness. Now, her memory and emotions scarred, Eve has returned to New Orleans to forget the past. But the past will not be forgotten. Eve’s shattered memory has helped Cole walk on murder charges just as a new series of killings begins.
The latest murders are bizarre and baffling. The victims are killed in a ritual fashion, a series of numbers tattooed into their bodies. 212. 101. 111. 323. There is no clue to their meaning, no connection to the victims except one: Our Lady of Virtues Hospital, the crumbling old asylum that was once the scene of unspeakable madness. For Eve, it was a second home as a child. Her father was a doctor there, and she spent hours exploring its secret chambers, hidden rooms, and forbidden passageways. Somewhere in its decaying rooms lies the key to a terrible crime, a betrayal beyond imagining whose echoes are now being felt with a vengeance—a crime that seems to lead to Eve herself. And the only man she can trust with the search is Cole, her former lover and, just possibly, a cold-blooded killer.
As forgotten memories begin to surface, bodies are found and each twist leads to another terrifying piece of the puzzle. Someone is watching, planning, luring her back to the ruins of Our Lady and the shocking truths hidden there—someone who has been waiting for this moment to strike. He is deadlier than she knows. For the sins of the past must be revealed, the crimes brought to justice, and the price paid—in blood.

"It's loosely part of a series (as in you can read them in any order and not really miss anything). After saying that though, you should really read "Shiver" before this one. I like Lisa Jackson's books, although it took me a few chapters to get into this one."

" I'm pretty sure this was a Lifetime movie. Still, it suits for a quick, easy and intriguing read on a Friday night. "
— Melanie, 2/17/2014" Another great book by Lisa Jackson, kept me hooked from page one. I like how she brings back some of the same character's from previous books. "
— Denise, 2/6/2014" Wonderful sequel and great read. While somewhat predictable Jackson still presents a surprise ending not many would see coming, "
— Ragdoll306, 1/27/2014" I'd like to read some more of hers, but she throws needless sex stuff in that doesn't add anything to the story. I'm not sure I will. "
— Julie, 1/21/2014" I've read all of her mysteries-they are usually a good read if you like that genre. This one had some interesting twists. "
— Pmcdnld2, 1/18/2014" Riveting! Right to the end. "
— TeriC, 1/16/2014" Was far too much like her other novels. Very much a recipe it seems. Trying one more to see if I like it any better. "
— Su, 1/4/2014" This book was predictable and unlikely, which made it very frustrating to read. "
— Mary, 12/11/2013" This is the first book I read by this author. I liked it. I will look for other books by her. Seems as though there are more books with the same characters. I likes the twists throughout this one. "
— Holly, 12/10/2013" Crazy ending.....is their another book after this one? "
— Sandy, 12/6/2013" Couldn't put it down! A scary, absurd tale of murder and torture. "
— Barbara, 10/31/2013" Kaya karyanya Mary Higgins Clark gitu... cuma lebih cowok n lebih psycho aja... "
— Adisti, 10/12/2013" This is the first novel from this author I've read and I loved it...a real page turner... "
— Debra, 10/5/2013" A frothy, perhaps unnecessarily graphic read. Polished it off in an evening, adequately entertained "
— Linda, 7/18/2013" Great book. I was in suspense the whole time. Never exactly sure who the killer was. Kept me on the edge of my seat. Looking forward to reading her other books "
— Jennifer, 7/10/2013" Het verhaal was redelijk goed. Maar de familiebanden werden mij toch net iets te ingewikkeld om goed te kunnen blijven volgen. Wel is het goed genoeg om meer van deze schrijfster te lezen. "
— Minnie, 2/13/2013" This is the first book I've ever read from this author and I'm hooked! Great story and a great read! I'd recommend. "
— Jennifer, 11/26/2012" I like most of Lisa Jackson's books. I liked that is was a continuation of the series. "
— Joanne, 10/6/2012" Not as interesting as Shiver, but I got through it. "
— Jeff, 10/2/2012" Good -- loved the unexpected twists. Easy read "
— Elizabeth, 8/23/2012" Fast read! Started at 8:30P, finished less than 5 hours later. "
— Karen, 8/13/2012" MOst follow-ups can't hold a candle to their prediscessor. But this one not only holds one to it but it sends it up in flames. Mysterious, heart renching, fear riddled, and even alittle family love thrown in for good messure. "
— Toni, 5/9/2012" This book was pretty darn good, creepy and suspenseful. Certainly never would have known that this book was a second of a series!! Tantalizing!! Okay, Just looked this up, it is the 5th book in a series.. I still never would have known; it was that good. "
— Marnie, 4/17/2012" Saw the ending coming from the prologue. The crazy relationships between the characters is so contrived. And Montoya, who is a character from another book in the series, is so annoying in this one, I was hoping he would get shot. "
— Melissa, 7/2/2011" I absolutely love her style. The woman can write! Enough said. "
— K., 3/27/2011" She has a way of writing, it's painting the words before your very eyes that completely draws you in. There were a few twists I knew but one knocked me off my feet which I won't add here because spoilers are no fun. This was an insanely great read! "
— Christine, 2/26/2011" Damn cliffhanger endings! Next book, please. I really love this series and it's characters. "
— Carla, 11/25/2010" Murder & mayhem; good fast read. "

— Ayesha, 8/14/2010" Same story different day and town. it was nice to see what happened next to the charachters until it sounded exactly like the last book. "
— Irene, 7/6/2010" Het verhaal was redelijk goed. Maar de familiebanden werden mij toch net iets te ingewikkeld om goed te kunnen blijven volgen. Wel is het goed genoeg om meer van deze schrijfster te lezen. <br/> "
— Minnie, 6/23/2010" Maintained tension and interest for most of the book but had a most dissatisfying ending. Very disappointing. "
