Kristi Bentz wants to write true crime. All she needs is that one case that will take her to the top. She finds it when she enrolls at All Saints College after learning that four girls have disappeared in less than two years.
All four girls were "lost souls"—troubled, vulnerable girls with no one to care about them, no one to come looking for them if they disappeared. The only person that believes Kristi is her ex-lover, Jay McKnight, a professor on campus. The police think they're runaways, but Kristi senses there's something that links them—something terrifying. . .
As Kristi gets deeper into her investigation, she gets the feeling she's being watched and followed—studied, even. Then the bodies start turning up, and Kristi realizes she is playing a game with a killer who has selected her for membership in a special club from which there will be no escaping death. . .

"I read this book before realizing it is part of a series of books. Despite that, the book did keep me intrigued and I wish there was a "History of Vampirism" class being held locally, I would love to take it. Even tho, the book is part of a series, it was easy to follow. "

" This story line had very little Bentz/Montoya. I have read this series out of sequence and cant recall exactly how things have happened in the series of books. It was nice to delve into Kristi's character more but I did have an idea who the Male "murderer" was in this book. Overall alright but the stories seems to be VERY similar from book to book. "
— Tbennett, 2/8/2014" I really enjoy reading this book , I like to figure out who is pretending to be vampire killer lol. "
— REGINA, 2/7/2014" It was about 100 pages too long. "
— Rick, 1/21/2014" another situation where I wish there was a .5 option. The vampire cult was kinda dumb, but sadly, could be true. Not the first time we've heard of people carrying their blood in a vial around their necks. "
— Melissa, 1/17/2014" To confusing. I don't like vampire books, so take my rating with that in mind. Plot to far fetched. "
— Ginny, 1/16/2014" good book, like the characters and writing style. "
— Asantorelli, 1/16/2014" I had never read any of this author's works before and this book is in a series of which I knew nothing about. It is a vampire book essentially and was a little simplistic and even juvenile. There were many unnecessary mentions of 'hard ons' which I could have easily lived without, as it seemed that the author was trying to appeal to a large audience, but it failed for me. I probably won't read anything else by Lisa Jackson. It was okay, but certainly not a page turner "
— Liz, 1/10/2014" I was impatient for something to happen. It was pretty good. "
— Cjberg1, 1/10/2014" Interesting twists related to the "bad guys". I am not too enthusiastic about vampire themed novels, yet the university-related environment was enjoyable. "
— Janet, 1/9/2014" I did not like this book. I actually flipped through pages and never missed anything. If you like overly descriptive books with tons of detail, then you will love this one. "
— Lourdes, 1/7/2014" Did not realize this was a series when I read the book. I plan on going back and reading the first four books since I enjoyed this one so much! "
— Cari, 12/30/2013" Lost Souls is a great book by Lisa Jackson. My first book i read of hers. I loved the suspense it kept my flying though the pages! I SO LOVE THE VAMPIRE ANGLE! I loved this book! "
— Amy, 12/30/2013" A Good Read and a good mystery "

— Mahareni, 12/3/2013" Don't try to figure out who is responsible for the serial killings. It's impossible until the last few chapters. Just enjoy the ride. :) "
— Sammy, 10/10/2013" What a good one - it wore me out! "
— Carla, 9/7/2013" Pretty good addition to the series. There are some pretty gruesome scenes in this one, so beware. "
— Kari, 8/18/2013" Very good story, lots of suspense, a little romance (not too much though!) Ending leaves it open for the next book, Malice. I think that is the one. Really enjoyed it since the mystery centered around vampires! "
— Rachele, 7/28/2013" I really liked this book. Just finished it and will read the others in the series. The only thing that bothered me was the ending. It was almost identical to the ending in Absolute Fear only a different character. Ohter than that I thought it was one of the best in the series. "
— Phyllis, 4/23/2013" I enjoyed this book so much I went and bought another one of hers to try. "
— Shelly, 12/18/2012" Junk. I almost felt my brain shrinking as I read this. That said, it's a page turner. "
— Alexa, 10/5/2012" It was a good book...was not one of the can't put down books I like to read though. I would read another book by her. "
— Tammy, 6/5/2012" cant wait to read Malice... "
— Patty, 6/2/2012" This book drove me crazy with the excess of details. The descriptive passages were a poor attempt to distract the reader away from a poor plot and weak characters. Couldn't make myself finish. "
— Nicci, 2/17/2012" Awesome.. Can't wait for the next one.... "
— Amy, 2/13/2012" I really enjoyed this book. I will recommend this book to everyone i know. "
— Angie, 12/6/2011" I had a hard time with the idea of the heroine being targeted by a serial killer more than once. "
— Terri, 9/13/2011" This was a good book, I liked Kristi's character. This book had too much info though, I caught myself skipping over the details throughout! "
— Jessica, 9/8/2011" This isn't a bad book but the ending was a little uncreative, I also think it would have flowed just fine without the gratuitous sex and language that was used (at times) for no reason at all. Again, it wasn't bad, just not as good as I would have expected going in. "
— Alison, 5/8/2011" another great read by lisa "
— Laura, 4/17/2011" another situation where I wish there was a .5 option. The vampire cult was kinda dumb, but sadly, could be true. Not the first time we've heard of people carrying their blood in a vial around their necks. "
— Melissa, 4/6/2011" Exciting and a little bit scary which I love..I thoroughly enjoyed this book. "
— Barbara, 3/14/2011" Slow start but it picked up steam. Overall I liked it. "
— Fiona, 3/2/2011" I am telling you, this series kicks so much butt! The twists, which I was pretty close to solving correctly, the action, the relationship between Kristi and Jay, all of this made one hell of a great read. "
— Christine, 2/26/2011" good murder book- interesting premise of students at a college getting involved with "vampyrism" and nive historical references. Creepy "
— Gail, 2/24/2011" First one read by Jackson, standard fare. Good entertainment. "
— Dan, 1/30/2011" Meh. Could've been good, but was just so-so. She did a good job of keeping you guessing whodunnit but the protagonist in this series (didn't realize it was one when I started it) is a bit, well, silly. In a teen slasher movie, she'd be the first idiot to wander off alone in the dark woods. "
— Alicia, 1/12/2011" Pretty good addition to the series. There are some pretty gruesome scenes in this one, so beware. "
— Kari, 1/8/2011" Ckup seru+mmbuat pnasaran smp halaman trakhir.Sayangnya epilognya mnggantung+mlah bkin mkin pnsarn.Apakh sosok Jennifer Bentz it mrupakn pnampakn, ato dia mmg bnr2 msh hidup? "
— Mahareni, 1/3/2011" Spannend verhaal met een mythisch kantje aan, én in een geweldige omgeving. Leuk ook om personages uit de voorgaande delen vanuit een ander perspectief te zien! <br/> "
— Minnie, 11/3/2010" Didnt know it was part of a series but thats fine. This book s worth going out of order! "
