The crime scene at St. Marguerite’s cathedral in New Orleans is shocking, even to seasoned detectives like Rick Bentz and Reuben Montoya. A novice nun named Sister Camille has been found dressed in a yellowed bridal gown and viciously garroted, her body covered with an altar cloth.
Valerie Houston is devastated by her sister’s death. For weeks, she’d begged Camille to leave St. Marguerite’s, where she seemed determined to live as some kind of martyr. But Camille had a knack for making bad choices—she joined the convent in part because she’d fallen for Val’s soon-to-be ex-husband, Slade.
Convinced the police aren’t doing enough, Val begins to investigate. Slade, on a mission to repair their marriage, is determined to help her. But the deeper Val’s inquiries go, the more twisted the case becomes. St. Marguerite’s is far from the tranquil retreat many believe, and everyone, from handsome Father Frank O’Toole to the mysterious Mother Superior, has their own agenda. Despite their closeness, even Camille had a hidden life Val never suspected. But someone knew about Camille’s past—and Val’s, too. Now she has no choice but to catch a devious, depraved killer intent on purging St. Marguerite’s of all its sins—before she becomes the next victim.…

"great who-done-it, even better why-it-was-done. Great follow up w/ Bentz and Montoya, great story with new people too. Would recomend to fans of Lisa Jackson"

" Just an OK typical serial killer story. Nothing unusual or exceptional here. Routinely, I find serial killer books less than desireable reads. I thought I'd give this a go since the setting was a bit unusual, murder of nuns from a very traditional convent. Murder after murder ensues until the killer is finally caught, or not, leaving the opening for the next book. My opinion is unchanged. Still less than desireable. "
— Linda, 2/20/2014" This book was put aside because it is not well written. The author has rehashed a previous storyline which she didn't tell well the first time and doesn't do any better this time. I really wanted to read a good book, unfortunately, this one was a miss. I don't think I'll finish this and I very rarely choose to not finish a book. "
— Rebecca, 2/18/2014" It was good. Nuns killing nuns! "
— Bobbie, 2/3/2014" I enjoy Lisa Jackson's writing. It makes you turn the page to see what happens next. "
— Donna, 2/3/2014" Fabulous plot as always with Lisa Jackson. I love not having the slightest clue who dun-nit! A true genius. "
— Catherine, 2/2/2014" excellent, it keeps you on the edge of your seat thru the whole book. "
— Mary, 1/29/2014" Lots of twists and turns. "
— Sharon, 1/23/2014" Very good book, would rate 4.5. "
— Karen, 1/5/2014" Lisa Jackson does it again!!!! This was phenomenal!!! Waiting patiently for the next in the Bentz/Montoya New Orleans series!!! "
— Max, 12/11/2013" A bit slow in the first half, but getting better and better. With a surprising end, I will definitely read more written by Mrs Jackson. "
— Patchenpotter, 11/4/2013" it was't one of my favorates. it didn't seem as suspensful as some of the others. "
— Katy, 10/23/2013" She writes a good mystery if she would just get rid of the same tired romance scenario. "
— Sherry, 9/22/2013" Yikes! suspense right to the end. Don't plan on doing anything until it is finished. "
— TeriC, 12/25/2012" I accidently read this one before reading 1-6!!! but i sure az hell am readin da other ones!!! "
— Brie, 12/4/2012" Not as good as some of her books but well worth reading. "
— Connie, 11/1/2012" Love these books. Great series! "
— Alicek, 10/11/2012" I always like the idea of Lisa Jackson's books but I've never made it through any of them. I'm not sure what it is that puts me off but the choppy mess of a beginning to this ensured I didn't make it past my 50 page limit (which is usually where I decide to go on or quit a book) "
— Jana, 3/12/2012" Didn't really dig it and found it hard to continue on as I was bored. "
— Amanda, 12/17/2011" I just couldn't get into this book. Perhaps it was because I had just finished reading Started Early, Took My Dog by Kate Atkinson. IMHO, Ms. Atkinson's writing is far superior to that of Ms. Jackson's. "
— Doreen, 7/24/2011" I have to admit I couldn't figure out the killer. Most I figure out or at least consider but I didn't see this one coming!! "
— Kay, 6/16/2011" This was an awesome book. I really like this author "
