The Wallflowers
Four young ladies at the side of the ballroom make a pact to help each other find husbands . . . no matter what it takes
Proud and beautiful Annabelle Peyton could have her pick of suitors—if only she had a dowry. Her family is on the brink of disaster, and the only way Annabelle can save them is to marry a wealthy man. Unfortunately her most persistent admirer is the brash Simon Hunt, a handsome and ambitious entrepreneur who wants her as his mistress.
Annabelle is determined to resist Simon's wicked propositions, but she can't deny her attraction to the boldly seductive rogue, any more than he can resist the challenge she presents. As they try to outmaneuver each other, they find themselves surrendering to a love more powerful than they could have ever imagined. But fate may have other plans—and it will take all of Annabelle's courage to face a peril that could destroy everything she holds dear.

"OK so I skipped the first half of this book, I've read all the other Wallflower books so I knew what was going to happen anyway. I wanted to get to the part where they decided to get together and then I wanted to read about the fire (which was mentioned in the other books). I liked it just as much as the other Wallflower books so I gave it 4stars."

“Deftly evoking not only the romantic tension between hero and heroine but also the conflicts and challenges of the Victorian era, this superb romance from Kleypas launches her new series centered on the Wallflowers, four young ladies who are sick of being snubbed and overlooked by London’s bachelors and who have banded together to find themselves husbands…By turns amusing, sensual and sober, but always compelling, this is a first-rate offering from a truly talented storyteller.”
— Publishers Weekly (starred review)" For some reason Lisa Kleypas audiobooks aren’t available in the U.K. luckily I found out about this store. I used my first flexipass which was a bargain. I absolutely loved Rosalyn Landors narration. She bought the characters alive, and the story was fantastic. Lisa Kleypas is the queen of historical romance. "
— Suzy, 7/10/2023" Love the narrator. Very annoyed to find the prologue cut. This meant that the book had less depth to it. I loved the description of the panorama and the intro also introduced the young brother. An intellugent boy in need of an education. Without the intro the heroine appears shallow and unlikeable. Cutting the intro is a bad choice. "
— Gwenz, 5/13/2022" Loved Wallflowers ;)* "
— Ingrid, 1/22/2014" This was my favorite Wallflower book out of the series. "
— Angela, 1/15/2014" Really enjoyed this first in a four-part series. I liked the tension and fun between Annabelle and Simon and I also liked the personalities of the other girls, especially the American debutantes Lilian and Daisy, who seem fiery and good heroines for future books in the series. "
— Sarah, 1/6/2014" I adored this book. Though I wanted to throttle Annabelle several times, in the end I had tears in my eyes. Simon Hunt may be a commoner but there is nothing common about him. Definitely a keeper. "
— Katherine, 1/5/2014" She makes me laugh a lot, Lisa writes very good dialogues :) "
— Melisa, 12/27/2013" Read book in one day. I just couldn't put it down. Looking forward to the next Kleypas book. "

— Zoe, 4/13/2011" 4.5 stars

This is the 1st book in my audio re-read of the Wallflowers Quartet. It was at least as good as I'd remembered. "
— Renee, 4/2/2011" Very good story. I loved Simon, he was so manly and he evolved so much as a character. I really believed that these characters were truly in love. The book was steamy, but I guess when you read adult romance novels, that's what you get. "
