From #1 New York Times bestselling author Lisa Jackson comes a pulse-pounding thriller that goes behind the doors of an exclusive academy with a terrifying secret….
Ever since her father was killed in a home invasion, Julia “Jules” Farentino has been plagued by nightmares. Her half-sister, Shaylee, now seventeen, has had her own difficulties, earning a lengthy rap sheet. Still, when Jules learns of her mother’s decision to send Shay to Blue Rock Academy, an elite boarding school in Oregon, Jules is skeptical. A student went missing a few months earlier and there are rumors she may have died during one of the school’s questionable treatments.
On impulse, Jules applies for a teaching job at the Academy. Shortly before she arrives, a student is found hanged, another near death. Hysterical, Shay believes it’s murder. Staff members are wary and unwelcoming—all except Cooper Trent, who has his own suspicions, his own secrets, and was once Jules’s lover.
Then another girl is found dead. Something sinister is at hand—but Jules may be too late to stop it. Behind the Academy’s idyllic veneer lurks an evil force on a brutal and terrifying mission. And Jules has become the next target of a bloodthirsty killer without limits, without remorse, without mercy…

"A spine chiller! Great setting in a upscale wilderness boarding school for the rich bad boys and girls. Lots of murder and mayhem; mixed with a small amount of satisfying romance, and some great characters. Enjoyed this one and would recommend to readers who like dark thrillers. "
— AnneOK (4 out of 5 stars)
" very good but did not like ending. "
— Sally, 2/19/2014" It started out pretty slow and predictable but ended a little better. A few twists towards the end that kept my attention. "
— Lady, 2/8/2014" An ending I was not expecting! Another great story by the awesome Lisa Jackson! "
— Rachel, 2/7/2014" This book was okay. Not really anything special. Even with having murders in it, it still lacked action and sense of urgency to me. It was very predictable and I guessed who the killer was right after the first murder. I do think teens would like the storyline and the romance between the two main characters. "
— Kay, 1/5/2014" Jackson writes a good thriller usually. This was a tad too long but got really good at the end! "
— Madeline, 1/4/2014" I thought that this book was a little uneven in it's execution. I found certain details very hard to believe. For instance, the main character gets a job at the school where her half-sister has been sent. The school never discovered that the two were related. I did keep reading because I wanted to find out what would happen next. I just had to suspend a lot of disbelief while I was reading. "
— Macjest, 1/1/2014" I don't think much of this book. The story line was very lame. I also have a problem with stupid women characters. Everyone of the women in this book was stupid. Not sure if I will read Lisa Jackson again. "
— Sharon, 12/23/2013" Just had a hard time with this one...kind of boring.... "
— Stacy, 12/20/2013" Set in Seattle and the snowy mountains of Oregon; this story never has a dull moment. The ending was surprising (at least to me). "
— Jolene, 12/18/2013" good suspense and lots of twists and turns, a little gorey for me... "
— Azure, 12/5/2013" Predictable and ant-climatic. Took the first 200 pages just to develop the storyline, long & drawn out. "
— April, 11/20/2013" This was an exciting book. However, the ending is slightly unbelievable. Parents send their disturbed school to a school in Oregon. But there is a killer doing away with students. "
— Michele, 11/5/2013" Enjoyed this book. It was a good, quick read and would recommend it to others. "
— Betti, 10/30/2013" This book had me guessing the whole time...who i thought was the bad guy/gal was not it. This is a great suspense book if you are into thoes types of books. "
— Rafelina, 4/1/2013" Great mystery, can't put it down. Love her books. "
— Susan, 3/18/2013" My first Lisa Jackson book, and I really enjoyed it. Great plot and never-ending action. I couldn't wait each day to read more. "
— Stephenie, 11/20/2012" I'm a big Lisa Jackson fan, but I didn't enjoy this book as much as her others. The style of the writing made it take a while for things to pick up in the story, but at least there was an unexpected twist at the ending. "
— Debbi, 11/12/2012" This book has a lot of suspenseful twists & turns and you keep wondering 'who done it'? It shows the love you can have for your family no matter what and the lenghths you will go to for that love. Lisa Jackson's characters are colorful and kept me guessing till the end. "
— Kathy, 11/11/2012" I love her books but this one just "dragged" on in the middle of the book and then towards the end it got good again "
— Sue, 11/3/2012" I truly feel as if many modern authors have a template most of them follow. The only changes are the names which get cornier as time goes on. The plot is dreadfully predictable as is the dialogue. They sort of change the plot but they all follow the same rythym. BORING!!! DRIBBLE!! "
— Jami, 7/2/2012" not one of my FAV lisa Jackson books "
— Chris, 6/17/2012" I really liked this book. You think you have it figured out but you don't. "
— Stephanie, 5/17/2012" Good story. Held my interst all the way through. I couldn't put it down. "
— Frances, 1/21/2012" I stopped half-way through. Lame. "
— Lori, 9/12/2011" it was great kept me on my toes "
— Patty, 6/5/2011" If I could give this 0 stars I would. This is one of the worst books I have EVER read. It was a total waste of the six dollars I paid for it. "
— Haley, 5/22/2011" Not her best, but still good. "
— Dustin, 5/15/2011" If you have not read Lisa Jackson, you should. This is one of her best. "
— Eliza, 5/11/2011" Overall the story line was intriguing but I found it easy to put down & took a long time to finish just because I only picked it up sporadically. The ending was a little too corny. The twist at the end was a little too desperate. "
— Louveda, 4/15/2011" I loved this book! !! "
— Sue, 4/11/2011" It was not a good idea to read this at home...alone....at night. "
— Lori, 4/10/2011" OMG! Couldn't put this book down. Suspense in every page and what a twist at the end sure didn't see that one coming. "
— Elvis, 4/7/2011" Completely impossible, but it was a fun ride and had a twist at the end that even the most jaded readers won't see coming. Nice one, Lisa! It reminded me why I won't ever let a Lisa Jackson go unread. Sometimes she's just ON. "
— Darren, 4/6/2011" I really liked it! The end was so good, but I thought Shay killed the people after the second murder, though I didn't think she'd try to kill Jules. I thought it was a really good book, though it got a bit boring in the middle . "
— Emily, 4/5/2011" A great page turner. Keeps you hooked the whole time. When you find out who the killer is, you will be shocked. What a twist. "
— Rob, 4/2/2011" What an amazing story for young adults. A suspense novel with a captivating story. A remote reform school out in the middle of nowhere with a killer on the loose and several suspects all of whom are vindicated in the end. It will keep you on the edge of your seat. "
— Catherine, 3/31/2011" This book had the potential to be so much better. The story was there, but it missed the mark on delivery. It wasn't boring, but I was disappointed. "
— Kelly, 3/27/2011" Good but not great. A light read. Interesting plot. "
— Linda, 3/27/2011" It was okay, but to be fair I listened to the abridged version in the car. "
— Laura, 3/12/2011" Violence, rough language, O.k. plot with an interesting twist, about 100 pages too long. "
