Claire Danvers has her share of challenges---like being a genius in a school that favors beauty over brains, dealing with the homicidal girls in her dorm, and above all, finding out that her college town is overrun with vampires.

On the up side, she has a great roommate (who tends to disappear at sunup) and a new boyfriend named Shane, whose vampire-hunting dad has called in backup: cycle punks who like the idea of killing just about anything. Now a fraternity is throwing its annual Dead Girls' Dance and---surprise!---Claire and her equally outcast best friend, Eve, have been invited. When they find out why, all hell is going to break loose. Because this time both the living and the dead are coming out---and everybody's hungry for blood. Download and start listening now!

Listener Opinions

" I liked this installment of the series better than the first one. I DO have to remind myself, at times, while reading what it was like to be 16 when I see some of the insane decisions that Claire makes, but being 16 is all about making bad decisions - so it makes her a believable character. "

" The second instalment of Rachel Caine's best selling series definitely does not disappoint. It can be hard for sequels to live up to the first book, but Dead Girls' Dance succeeds in knocking the reader over with suspense, humour and a lil bit of love. "

" Good but it dragged on a bit. The middle was kind of boring. I loved the ending, though and that made up for it. "

" Igual que el primero, muy bueno. Divertido, aunque le quitare una estrella por cierto "accidente" ocurrido en cierta fiesta... un poco idiota la reaccion de Claire, asi que... por muy buen corazon que tenga esta chica, lo siento, no es creible (y hablamos de un libro de vampiros). "

" Just started reading this book. It is kind of a kiddy series, but I'll see how much better it gets. I absolutely LOVED the Twilight series and those were kiddy too........Had to put it down, tried for a month to get into these and just can't :( "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Celeste | 7/12/2011

" 3.5 stars. I like this series because the setting is super creepy, the main character is strong and loyal to her friends and it has just the right amount of plot action to romance ratio. I will continue to read this series as well. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Lucy | 7/6/2011

" I'm still not sure whether I want to give it three or four stars... But three for now. Pretty good, yes. Didn't think it was as good as the first one, though. A little too much of the "Omg, he's sooo hot" feeling. "

" A bit darker Vampire series. It is an interresting story with unusual twists. I do not feel it is for the young teen however. There are sexual references and adult situations. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Lopeanha | 5/24/2011

" A really good book, the story and characters develop nicely. It's quite fast paced which made me get through it quickly and left me wanting for more. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Myra | 5/14/2011

" Ok, nobody is ever going to confuse the Morganville vampire books with great literature, but so far, they have been a fun little escape. Interesting characters and a good story. And I have to say that I'm happy this one ended with much less of a cliff-hanger than the first one! "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Carrie | 5/3/2011

" This is a really great series...action-packed and written very well! But, sadly, too much language for me and I think I will have to stop at this book. But if you don't mind the language, I highly recommend it! 5 stars for the story and the writing...3 stars because of language. :( "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Mairead | 5/1/2011

" Great follow up, and even better than the first in a way. Not a compulsive series for me, but when I read it, I thoroughly enjoy it. :) "
