Vampire Michael Glass just received the call he's been waiting for all his life. His music has attracted the attention of a heavily connected music producer who wants him to cut a demo and play some dates—which means that Michael will have to enter the human world.
But he won't be alone. He's been assigned an undead escort, which includes immortal enforcer Oliver, as well as Michael's human friends: rebellious Eve, oft-misunderstood Claire, and courageous Shane. And with that mix of personalities, this is going to be a road trip from hell.
But what waits for them proves more perilous than they thought. Caught between humans who hate them and a savage party of traveling vampires out to create a blood-soaked feast for themselves, Michael and his friends may not make it to the show on time...or ever.

"Okay now the 8 book in the series they get out on a road trip and you would think that would be a good thing. But wait this is Claire, Shane, Michael, and Eve and you know it cannot be that easy at all. Well this was a good book and Rachel Caine keep to her good writing and even when they get out the trouble for the 4 of them does not stop. They can get into trouble even at a rest stop. But they do make it to Dallas in the end but they must go back and you knew that was coming. Good book and I will be moving on to the next book now. "

" 4-1/2 stars. A bit of a slow start - although this seems to be the case with almost all of these books - but once the kids get out of town, the action is non-stop. Great entry in the series. Lots of Oliver's snarky humor, more on Morley, and Claire grew quite a bit in this book. I can't wait to see where Claire goes from here. "
— Theresa, 2/13/2014" I liked how Claire'strength is shown in the book. Her and Micheal have more in commone because they are always the ones saving the others. I would have liked to have Mynrin in the book more, but it was still good. Jason and Oliver made the story more interesting as well. I'm glad Oliver has more emotion, at least toward Claire, sometimes. "
— Allison, 2/10/2014" I can't really remember what happened in which book but I do know that overall I really enjoy this series. I am getting tired of the constant drama and really want them to have their happily ever after though. "
— Jaimie, 2/8/2014" Another rollicking good vampire time in Morganville...er Dallas. Michael has an offer to record music in Dallas and Amelie gives permission for all four to attend. The road trip with the hated Oliver as a chaperone is a typical day in the life of Claire, Eve, Shane and Michael - one thing after another, danger, danger, danger. Loved it! "
— Barbara, 1/17/2014" I LOVE this series! This is a wonderful addition to the series. "
— Kate, 1/17/2014" One of my favorite morganville vampires books!!! AHHHH loved it! Eve gets her car...:D "
— Livi, 1/17/2014" By book 8, everyone reading is already a fan, in it for the long haul. So what is there to say? I missed Myrnin. Eve was kind of annoying, she gets on Claire's case a lot. But a good time was had by all. :) "
— Krissy, 12/15/2013" I ordered t from another library 'cause my library doesn't have it and i need it soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo bad!!!!!!!!!!! "

— Malati, 3/5/2013" The newest book in the Morganville vampire series. The book was really good and I loved every part of it. I loved Michael, Shane and Oliver.:) "
— Manisha, 12/18/2012" I am actually quite over this series, but I keep reading them to find out what's happening. But with Kiss of Death, I actually stopped reading, did a little skimming, then came to GR to read full reviews/spoilers. I don't feel like I missed anything. "
— Ginny, 7/5/2012" What can I say??... I looooooove this serie... so I looove every book of it... haha "
— Ale, 4/17/2012" Book 8 - it was good, not great. Didn't love it, didn't hate it. Enjoyed the more personal relationships. Missed the action. Will read book 9 when it comes out, although it's supposedly in hardback... probably won't rush out to buy it for that reason. "
— Susanne, 4/12/2012" I love this series, however, this was a bit disappointing. Definitely not the best in the series, but still very entertaining. "
— Christy, 9/28/2011" One of the best of the Morganville Vampire Series, (and that's saying a lot!!!). Can't put them down, and can't wait for more. Excellent plot and, as always, amazing characters! "

— Lizzie, 5/24/2011" This one was fantastic. A complete change of everything. It was like a whole new series but with completely familiar characters. At this deep into the series it was great timing, Can't wait for the next. "
— Wesley, 5/21/2011" This was so good! The plot was very different because they were out of Morganville, so it was good to see another sort of story. "
— Alyssa, 5/17/2011" I absolutly love Rachel Caine stories her and series! I have to admit I was dissapointed when I read this book. It sounded good but it seemed like Rachel writting took a dip and the story just didn't match up with to the other seven. I was dissapointed "
— Jolene, 5/15/2011" Such a fun series and a definitely different take on the vampires--love it! "
— Buqet, 4/24/2011" It felt like I was watching a zombie video game. Definitely my least favorite so far- the first 6 were awesome. "
— Jenn, 4/7/2011" Whoa! I totally didnt see that comming. And Duh, they have to go back cause there wouldnt me a story without Morganville.... "
— Seneca, 4/6/2011" I absolutely loved it! You got to see Oliver's nice side, Michael's rock star side,
Claire's tough girl side, Shane's romantic side, and Jason's not-so-creepy side. It was amazing!
Can't wait to get the next book in the series! "
— Micheala, 3/29/2011" hmm it kinda of freaked me out on some chapters but over all its good "
— Norah, 3/26/2011" Another installation of serial style adventures. Main characters seem to have some growth but the plot centers on this latest series of disasters. "
