"Let me tell you this: Hollywood will (very likely) break your heart. I spent every minute of this book tearing myself apart over that boy. Then again, he spends most of the book tearing himself apart too, but isn't that what this series is all about? However, alongside the war against the lessers, the vampires has so much internal drama, and it's amusing to walk along as they become aware of the phenomena called emotions. they're warriors, they've never needed them until just the right female turns up. And that's when they're turn the world around, upside down and inside out to keep their females safe and... well, that's just nice to read I guess. Also, the sex is yummy. Nothing lost there. Also, as a final note, this series shifts between main characters in each books - it gives the books a fresh variation of theme and makes the world the author created expand pretty much limitless. you never know what's coming next."

Quotes

  • “Readers will love their evolving relationship, at turns passionate, tender, and fierce, as well as the heart-pounding pace as the two try to escape their enemies.”

    — Barnes & Noble, editorial review
  • “Hold on tight for an intriguing, adrenaline-pumping ride featuring a race of warrior vampires who fill enemies with terror and women with desire. Like any good thrill ride, the pace changes with a tender story of survival and hope and leaves readers begging for more.”

    — Booklist
  • “The concepts and consequences of friendship, loyalty, and love are critical to this extremely intense and emotionally powerful tale. Ward’s ongoing paranormal world is, among other things, colorful, dangerous, and richly conceived. With both intricate plots and believable characters, she has penned a surefire hit.”

" 3.5 stars although i love BDB, and it was a good read, I couldn't move past the whole sick female issue.. She would have been a good mate for Z but not Hollywood... He was too good looking to fall for a mediocre looking, sick female. Don't judge me! That's my honest opinion. I loved the beast!! Although scary he needed to be loved as well. Moving on to book 3 which I hear is wonderful!! "

" It was enjoyable enough, although I hate to say, I think Mary dying would've made the story much more compelling. Or at least sticking to the original deal with the Scribe Virgin. The actual ending was a little too neatly wrapped IMO. "
