"Quite predictable nevertheless enjoyable. I didn't expect much from this book but Anne Rice surprised me. Interesting story, charismatic heroes and a happy-ending. What else could I want? It's missing something but I'm not sure what it is yet... maybe the fact that it's a one-read book for me. I don't think I'll ever re-read this one, not because it's a bad book, no... there simply are such books to which you never come back. Forgive me Ramses but we say goodbye to each other here."

— Chicago Tribune“Rice succeeds masterfully in blending horror and romance…Ramses is a fascinating character, heroic yet tragically flawed by his human desires.”

— Dallas Times Herald“Captivating.”

— Lawrence, 2/19/2014" My only disappointment with this book is that it wasn't part of a series. Definitely one of my favorite Rice books. "
— Kitty, 2/11/2014" One of my favorite Anne Rice books. I heard there would be a film with the director of Titanic, YIKES!! "
— Roniq, 2/10/2014" I received this book as part of a large installment of my mother-in-law's books otherwise destined for Good Will. I found it to be a fairly straightforward plot laced with a nice dose of romance, sex and violence. This book won't likely make you think deeply, but it is a quick, fun action story. "
— Meghan, 2/6/2014" Even though the reader knows the "who did it" and "who's who" of the story, it's really great reading how the characters unravel the story and their interactions with one another. Probably one of the best Anne Rice books. "
— Lilli, 2/3/2014" I read this the first time as a teenager, and absolutely loved it. As a 30 something, it's entertaining, but not as wonderful as remembe it. Anne Rice is an amazing story teller, but if find her writing, now as an adult, to be a little too over wroght. Dark and seriour is fine, but there is a complete lack of humor that I find difficult to tolerate at this stage in my life. Who know maybe if I read this book again in 20 more years I'll change my mind again. "
— Eliza, 1/14/2014" One of her lighter reads, minus the porn. Really entertaining. "
— Allison, 1/6/2014" This is a great story the end of it she says she's going to continue but she never has I wish she would "
— Niki, 11/23/2013" A sad tale, told in a sweeping format as only Anne Rice can. "
— Patricia, 11/6/2013" I think this is the only Anne Rice I've read. Loved it! It would've made a great movie. "
— Phair, 9/2/2013" This book is a classic, but she never turned this into a series. That was a mistake. "
— Gary, 8/25/2013" I read this quite some time ago (probably the early 90's, after reading Interview w/a Vampire). This was a much easier read, and I enjoyed it immensely. In fact...thinking about going & finding me another copy to re-read... "
— Kathleen, 3/31/2013" A great romantic fantasy. Fun, sexy with likeable characters. "
— Georgina, 3/6/2013" I actually think this book is rather tame for Anne Rice, but I liked it nonetheless. "
— Drucilla, 2/22/2013" This was a steamy book! "
— Brianna, 12/9/2012" The mummy was a good book. I didnt find it very exciting though. It is a kind of book that is good enough to be read and recommended. Its the kind of book you would want to read at night before bed, if you ask me. "
— Veronica, 8/13/2012" More Egypt...no Vampires, but a creative resurrection (literally) of legendary characters. Fun adventure! "
— Lauren, 6/5/2012" Wish she would write a sequel to this one. "
— Jane, 5/19/2012" I like this book, bought as special deal at the airport. Like her writing style, almost gothic which does make a refreshing change even though I know she wrote these a long time ago. Glad I discovered her by chance will make my way through the collection. "
— Craig, 3/26/2012" Anne Rice is like a night at the bar for me. Fun and entertaining at the time, but ultimately feels sorta hollow and like a grand waste of time. Doesn't mean I won't read more of her, I like the bar as much as anyone else, but it always leaves me a bit empty. "
— Alternate, 2/18/2012" This is an example of immortal softcore porn / horror romance done right. Somewhat slow story in the beginning, turned into a solid read. "
— Alex, 12/18/2011" An awesome stand-alone outing from Mrs Rice. Engaging from cover to cover. Romance, history, fantasy...delicious. "
— Mandy, 12/6/2011" I LOVED this book. I was rivited. I listed to this book on tape to and from work and there were times I almsot refused to get out of my car to go to work. HMMM....work.....Novel.....work....Novel. It was tough but I chose the novel. LOL "
— Colleen, 11/21/2011" Thought it would be scary. NOPE! "
— Trulee, 9/21/2011" i really liked this book. i was searching for the second book. ann rice never made a series out of this. so sad..i wish she would have..mummies ..immortality ...sex...adventure ..awesome. def a great book "

— Zabrina, 6/11/2011" I liked this one. The only Rice book I can say with certainty that I enjoyed. It had some character development, some sex bits and overall an interesting plot. That pretty much sums up what I remember about the book. Surprisingly enough I own a copy. "
— Laura, 6/9/2011" It was entertaining. Too much sex and not enough character development. Still good though if you life mummies! "

— box5angel, 5/21/2011" I honestly thought I would hate this book because it sounded like it was about a monster, but it was kind of sexy and exciting. "
— Sarah, 5/18/2011" This was actually the 1st book by Anne Rice I ever read, back when I was in high school. I loved it then, and decided to give it a re-read when Anne mentioned on her Facebook page that she was re-reading it herself. I loved it just as much this time - I wish she would have made a series out of it! "
— Mitzi, 4/4/2011" This is probably my favorite Anne Rice. And it's an interesting take on the ongoing Ramses stories. This was a cool story, but sort of an anticlimactic ending "
— Sally, 3/14/2011" Anne Rice not at her best. Bored me to tears until the last ten pages. "
— Danielle, 2/25/2011" Loved it, being a huge fan of Anne Rice's work. Sexy, historic, dreamy, informing and you wish that it never ended. "
