Publisher Description

From bestselling author Anne Rice, writing as A.N. Roquleaure. In the traditional folktale of 'Sleeping Beauty,' the spell cast upon the lovely young princess and everyone in her castle can only be broken by the kiss of a Prince. It is an ancient story, one that originally emerged from and still deeply disturbs the mind's unconscious. Now Anne Rice's retelling of the Beauty story probes the unspoken implications of this lush, suggestive tale by exploring its undeniable connection to sexual desire. Here the Prince reawakens Beauty, not with a kiss, but with sexual initiation. His reward for ending the hundred years of enchantment is Beauty's complete and total enslavement to him…as Anne Rice explores the world of erotic yearning and fantasy in a classic that becomes, with her skillful pen, a compelling experience.

"After having read more erotica, still one of my true favorites. Well told story with enough Anne Rice detail to bring me into the event. I have read the entire series three times and given the series as a gift many times."

Quotes

  • “Beginning with The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty originally released in 1983, Rice published the erotica trilogy under the pseudonym A.N. Roquelaure. And let me tell you, these stories put much of today’s erotic fiction to shame with it’s super spicy heat level!”

" I wanted to give it only 3 stars, but ending intrigued me and while middle often bored with overload of spanking - the beginning and the very last 5 pages or so made it worth the while. "

" Too much humiliation for me. It felt more like a book about rape and not romance. I will not be reading the rest. "

" As a credit to Anne Rice, the writing was in good form. That is where my compliments to this book stop. I have not read 50 Shades of Grey and so cannot attest to the validity of the comparison noted on the cover of the book. Whether or not the two compare, this book was not fun to read at all and I found it more of a chore than a pleasure to finish. The sadomasichism I think I could have dealt with if the plot had been up to par with Anne Rice's other novels; it was not. The plot was very slow to develop over the course of the novel except when a large chunk of it spills out near the end. As for the sexual content of the novel, while some of the imagery was quite imaginative, I found the constant struggle between the prisoners and the nobles to be repetitive and exhausting. Overall, I wouldn't recommend anyone waste their time with this one. "

" What makes a good book these days? Throw a bunch if sex scenes together, add a crappy plot and a weak willed girl and your all set! If I could give this book half a star, I would. "

" Okay, I figured since I have read 50 Shades and I am writing in this erotic genre, I decided to take a recommdation of a lady at the book store and read this. WELL I thought is was absolutely terrible, awful, a disaster a really bad book. I thought it would be a wonderful new twist to a childhood fairy tale. NOT!!! I can only say I was not very pleased with the story. I skipped the last half of the book because of dialogue that I did not care about,it was filled with 3 pages of a character telling of his past live's story. This is only Book 1; I will not, NOT be buying Book 2! Thank God the store let me return it. I have never read an Anne Rice book ever before, and I don't think I will ever again. "

" it was way more than what I expected...I thought it too would be a grownup version of Sleeping Beauty but boy was I wrong there is so much "torture erotica" that it seems to take away any true plot or connections to any of the characters... I may continue the series just to finish it tho. "
