"This book tried to tie in more of the fantasitcal time travelling and although that was the reason for the entire setting in book 1, and it was touched up on again in further books, I found it rushed in this one. It seemed out of place, but she obviously wanted to get all the characters back together....or apart....hmmm.... I enjoyed it as with all the others and look forward to the final book being released soon....."

“Features all the passion and swashbuckling that fans of this historical fantasy series have come to expect.”
— People“What can one say about a book we have been waiting five years to read? In this case, it is worth the wait. Few couples have engendered the devotion of readers the way Jamie and Claire have, and Gabaldon has created another sweeping novel full of history, epic adventure, and romance. With its complicated plots and twists and turns, as well as a large cast of characters, Written in My Own Heart’s Blood is brilliantly divided into eight sections that perfectly dovetail together. From past to present and from tragedy to triumph, this is a book not to just read but to experience!”
— RT Book Reviews (4½ stars, Top Pick!)“With her Outlander series, [Diana] Gabaldon…successfully [juggles] a sizable and captivating cast of characters, developing thrilling plotlines that borrow equally from adventure, history, and romance and meticulously integrating a wealth of fascinating period details into the story without slowing down the pace. The result is a sprawling and enthralling saga that is guaranteed to keep readers up long past their bedtimes.”
— Booklist (starred review)“Continuing her Outlander series, Gabaldon again pushes the boundaries of genre fiction…Gabaldon’s themes are decidedly grown-up…but the basic premise is a dash of juvenile fantasy, a jigger of historical fact, and heaping helpings of counterfactuals. If you’re a Gabaldon fan, the Scottish dialect, laid on with a spade, and all those naughty asides will be a familiar pleasure…And yes, there’s room for a sequel—or 10.”
— Kirkus Reviews“The long-awaited eighth installment in the enormously popular Outlander series is narrated with grace and zeal by Davina Porter…Porter portrays the wide cast with impressive range. Even in the most complex conversations, the listener can clearly discern which character is speaking. Porter’s most outstanding depiction is that of Claire herself—a woman who is deeply passionate and intelligent. Often her voice carries undertones of bubbling laughter or suppressed derision. Simply enchanting. Winner of AudioFile Earphones Award.”

— Jade, 5/21/2017" Another enjoyable book by Diana Gabaldon. Something to note to potential readers, it seems like her books are getting very long indeed. So, be prepared to spend some significant time listened to her books. For me personally it is not a problem because I thoroughly enjoy her writing. It is ripe with adventure, twists and I feel personally involved with the characters at this point. "
