Small-town cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse has had more than her share of experience with the supernatural-but now it's really hitting close to home. When Sookie sees her brother Jason's eyes start to change, she knows he's about to turn into a were-panther for the first time-a transformation he embraces more readily than most shapeshifters she knows. But her concern becomes cold fear when a sniper sets his deadly sights on the local changeling population, and Jason's new panther brethren suspect he may be the shooter. Now, Sookie has until the next full moon to find out who's behind the attacks-unless the killer decides to find her first

"I listened to this in the car and it is wonderfully funny and you can't wait to find out what happens next! Snookie is a Louisiana blonde with more than one romantic encounter with a vampire and has a shapeshifter brother who changed after he was bitten. I see why people love the books about Snookie Stackhouse - she is hilarious and feisty and intent on having things her way, but they rarely go her way. Add a jealous first love, who just happens to be a vampire and her neighbor, and a once-a-Viking lead vampire whom she hid from some witches, along with a were-shifter who has designs on her and the story gets interesting. Someone, or something, is trying to kill Snookie and every male, human and non-human, trying to protect her has his hands full. Oh yeah - and Snookie can read minds, all but those of vampires - they are dead after all!"

“The goofy charm of Harris’ world, with its humor and occasional terror, is what makes [this] so delightful.”
— Denver Post" " Another really good installment to the series, these books are fun and easy to read if you like vampire stuff. Enjoyed the new mix of characters and although I worked out pretty early on who had shot Sam it didn't spoil the story for me. Very enjoyable! " Just keeps getting better and better!! "
— kelley , 7/6/2016" One of my personal favorites in the series!! "
— Beth, 2/18/2014" Goodness, this is becoming a well-developed world - vamps and shifters and fairies, oh my! Sookie herself goes from strength to strength. Really enjoying this series, it may well become a favourite. "
— Seawood, 2/18/2014" I can't wait to see what happens next with Sookie. I hope she doesn't get beat up! LOL "
— Lorri, 2/16/2014" While still a quick and enjoyable read, not much goes on plot wise in this book. Things happen and then get resolved, but I don't feel like it lived up to the other books. "
— Shannon, 1/23/2014" Decent addition to the Sookie series. "
— Grace, 1/18/2014" A great book. Enjoyed it again. "
— Telps, 1/13/2014" Sookie's adventure continues as she gets deeper into the Were world, and finds out more than she would have wanted to know about their rituals. "
— Klava, 1/13/2014" A little slower than the others. "
— Renae, 10/16/2013" and the plot thickens! "
— Jay, 9/18/2013" Another really good installment to the series, these books are fun and easy to read if you like vampire stuff. Enjoyed the new mix of characters and although I worked out pretty early on who had shot Sam it didn't spoil the story for me. Very enjoyable! "

— Lorie, 9/7/2012" Great read! Can't wait to see how Sookie's relationship with Eric progresses now that he "knows"! "
— Michele, 5/20/2012" out of the five this one was the most boring and lame of all. yea it had a few little moments in it but over all it was very predictable I guessed the whole story in only the first few chapters that's no fun. "
— Aileen, 9/25/2011" Almost done, quick read "
— Sasha, 6/3/2010" Poor Sookie. People getting shot. People attacking her. New handsome vampires after her. New handsome shifters after her. She didn't actually sleep with any of them in this book, despite all the naked, lusty males around. Still recovering from all the action in book 4, I guess. "
— Shawn, 7/9/2008" I just love these books! It's my guilty pleasure! "
— Kathy, 10/5/2007" Easy read, fun book. I love werewolves :) "
— Mischa, 10/23/2006" Loved the banter and sexual tension with Eric (and Sam, and Alcide, and Bill, and possibly Quinn...hehe). Flew through this book. The writing was superb, as always, and I enjoyed every page of it. "
— Chrissy, 10/3/2005" I'm over Alcide. "
