A striking beauty with a taste for diamonds and dangerous men, Drea Rousseau was more than content to be arm candy for Rafael Salinas, a notorious crime lord who deals with betrayal through quick and treacherous means: a bullet to the back of the head, a blade across the neck, an incendiary device beneath a car. Now eager to break with Rafael, Drea makes a fateful decision and a desperate move, stealing a mountain of cash from the malicious killer. After all, an escape needs to be financed. Though Drea runs, Salinas knows she can’t hide – and he dispatches a cold-blooded assassin in hot pursuit, resulting in a tragic turn of events. Or does it? Left for dead, Drea miraculously returns to the realm of the living a changed woman. She’s no longer shallow and selfish, no longer steals or cheats or sells herself short. But in order to feel safe she will need to take down those who marked her for death.

"This was one of those books I probably would not have bought based on the synopsis. But it was Linda Howard and even her worst are worth reading at least once. The story grabbed you from page one and never let you go. It didn't matter that there wasn't a lot of "hearts and flowers" romance going on."
— Pamela(AllHoney) (5 out of 5 stars)
" Not one of her best, but I'll still take it :) "
— Olivia, 2/16/2014" Really great first half of the book, but got a little strange half way through. "
— Evelyn, 2/4/2014" Definitely not my favorite by Linda Howard. The story took some weird turns, and I just overall did not like it. "
— Blskelly, 1/24/2014" Simon was simply delicious and loved the fact that Drea/Andie/Andrea turned out to be brunette. Who said blondes got to have more fun. The end could have had some more tension, especially the last kill but I was satisfied with the ending. "
— Cherry-Ann, 1/18/2014" I didn't feel a connection with either of the two main characters (a professional hitman and a druglord's girlfriend) and the plot takes a REALLY weird turn in the middle. "
— Rachel, 1/18/2014" I think I would have enjoyed this one more if I had actually read it rather than listening to it on CD (trip to Atlanta and back). The narrator's voice for Simon totally creeped me out. It was hard for me to get into and hard for me to root for the hero and heroine. Again, I think I would have liked it more if I had actually read the book. "
— Colleen, 1/6/2014" This was book was interesting, and got better after the soft core porn in the 1st few chapters. This will not stretch you intellectually, but it is a nice mindless romance with unexpected twists and good characters. "
— Lorie, 12/26/2013" Another Linda Howard at her best!! "
— Tiffluvsaaron, 11/12/2013" Good cat and mouse story. The sex part is too explicit "
— Carol, 4/12/2013" Listening to this one on audio-great speakers. I just finished this one and I made sure twice that I had the unabridged version. I really rate it a 3 1/2. The story premise is great and I loved it, it just fell into place way too fast. "
— Kara, 12/15/2012" Great book. I will definitely be checking out more of her books. "
— Victoria, 2/17/2012" 4 stars: highly original romantic suspense thriller with a touch of paranormal "
— Shannon, 9/27/2011" I read this in one night! "
— Michalus, 5/12/2011" I really enjoyed this book. There was lots of twists and turns. "
— Christine, 5/8/2011" This book was phenomenal, the way everything played out was great. This is another one of my favorite books. "
— ???*., 3/28/2011" I think this is going to be good. "
— Judith, 3/14/2011" The anti-hero is a plot line I'm just getting acquainted with and I think I like it. There's nothing quite as appealing to me as a bad boy...and it doesn't get much badder than an assassin. "
— MRS, 3/8/2011" This book showed survival if you were living with a drug dealer "
— Amelia, 2/9/2011" Listening to this one on audio-great speakers. I just finished this one and I made sure twice that I had the unabridged version. I really rate it a 3 1/2. The story premise is great and I loved it, it just fell into place way too fast. "
— Kara, 1/2/2011" nonsense.(my point of view)<br/>the ending is not what i expected. has a nice story but not written properly. "
