NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • From Linda Howard comes a thrilling and sensual new novel of romance, suspense, intrigue . . . and memories that can kill. Lizette Henry wakes up one morning and makes a terrifying discovery: She doesn’t recognize the face she sees in the mirror. She remembers what she looks like, but her reflection is someone else’s. To add to the shock, two years seem to have disappeared from her life. Someone has gone to great and inexplicable lengths to keep those missing years hidden forever. But the past always finds a way to return. Strange memories soon begin to surface and, along with them, some unusual skills and talents that Lizette hasn’t a clue about acquiring. Sensing that she’s being monitored, Lizette suddenly knows how to search for bugs in her house and tracking devices in her car. What’s more, she can elude surveillance—like a trained agent. Enter a mysterious and seductive stranger named Xavier, who claims he wants to help—but who triggers disturbing images of an unspeakable crime of which Lizette may or may not be the perpetrator. With memories returning, she suddenly becomes a target of anonymous assassins. On the run with nowhere to hide, Lizette has no choice but to rely on Xavier, a strong and magnetic man she doesn’t trust, with a powerful attraction she cannot resist. As murky waters become clear, Lizette confronts a conspiracy that is treacherous and far-reaching and a truth that, once revealed, may silence her and Xavier once and for all. "This story kept me on the edge of my seat! I particularly liked the way the mysteries unfolded - never knowing if someone is on the side or right or evil until it's absolutely the last possible moment to know. I recommend reading this when you want something you can't put down!"

— RT Book Reviews" it was awesome and a thriller "
— Susan, 2/16/2014" I was happy to see a new Linda Howard book at the library and brought it home and started reading almost immediately. In the beginning I was mildly intrigued but it didn't take long til boredom set in. Not one of her best in my estimation. I found myself skipping pages and not really caring how it ended. "
— Margaret, 2/7/2014" What an interesting concept for a book. I won't give it away ... but really interesting. I enjoyed this book. There was great character development, romance, intrigue, compelling, non-stop action. This is the first Linda Howard book that I've read. Definitely would recommend this. "
— Patricia, 1/26/2014" Enjoyed the story "
— Sharon, 1/14/2014" Loved this book. Very fast read. Great characters and story. "
— Jami, 1/12/2014" Waking up with a stranger's face, Lizette Henry can't remember the previous five years of her life. As painful memories resurface of her shadow self & a shocking assassination, she goes on the run from deadly spies & must figure out if the mysterious Mr. X is friend or foe. The book is kind of like the movie "Long Kiss Goodnight", kind of kick-ass :) "
— Book, 1/6/2014" Probably 3.5*, but I'm rounding down because the story took too long to really take off. I like the premise of the book and overall I enjoyed the story, the romance and the suspense. The only problem was that the first fourth of the book is slow. After the initial realization that Lizette was coming out of some kind of "induced amnesia" the book drags until the reader has more of the backstory. Xavier is a great hero and I liked the chemistry between the leads. Definitely a fun Howard book but not as good as many others. I do think this would make a great movie plot, however. "
— Carrie, 12/30/2013" Easy flowing read. Thriller with sex. "
— Linda, 12/30/2013" Overall, a good book. There are a few unanswered questions, and I really wonder if Howard is a conspiracy theorist, but I liked it much better than her last several books. "
— Miki, 12/25/2013" Great read...didn't want it to end. "
— Jan, 11/5/2013" Ohhhh it had Sooo much potential. And while some raved about it, I felt nothing. No attachment to the characters, the ending was flat, unexciting and left little to be desired. I did read it pretty quick wanting to know what will happen, but was disappointed with the results "
— Kim, 10/28/2013" A spooky spy thriller/action story that kept me guessing. "
— Laurel, 10/10/2013" I liked this book, fast paced and puzzling, never knew what would happen next. A good read. "
— Sandy, 10/4/2013" A very intense read, but not appealing unless you don't mind living inside the mind of a woman who is thowing up for the first four chapters. It gets better toward the end as the character regains her former life. The plot becomes suspenseful with a cat-and-mouse theme and lots of blood. "
— Lisa, 9/19/2013" Thought it was going to be really good, but ended up being disappointed because the two protagonists only meet and interact for the last twenty pages. "
— Steph, 6/1/2013" I felt this book was a little off of the typical Linda Howard book of the past. Do not get me wrong. I enjoyed the book. It was a good book and the characters were good. "
— ReadingWench, 5/21/2013" Linda Howard has always been one of my long time favorite authors, but I have to say, this is by far the best of her books. I was captivated from the start. This was definately worth the wait for a Linda Howard book and well worth the hype. "
— Shari, 5/6/2013" Still Love Linda Howard ! "
— Jillian, 5/2/2013" Can you imagine looking in the mirror one morning and not recognizing the face staring back at you? "
— Tina, 3/9/2013" Excellent Murder Mystery. No idea why things were happening until the last 30 pages. GREAT suspense. "
— Rosemary, 2/17/2013" I would actually say 3.5 on this one. While I really enjoyed it, it's not my favorite. "
— Heidi, 2/13/2013" Shadow Woman is a truly exciting book!! I could not put it down. There is plenty of action, and even a little humor. "
— Carolyn, 1/25/2013" I think that the premise of the story had very good potential, but it did not seem to get me emotionally involved with the characters at all. "
— Susan, 12/30/2012" Took too long to get the characters together and then it was over too quick after that. "
