Dear Listener,

Shades of Twilight is the story of Roanna Davenport, who grows up in a wealthy southern family but never quite fits in. She isn’t pretty or popular, and she has a real talent for saying the wrong thing at precisely the wrong moment. She’s in love with a distant cousin, Webb Tallant. But Webb marries their cousin Jessie, the bane of Roanna’s life. When Jessie is found murdered, Webb is blamed for her death, even though there isn’t enough evidence to charge him. Webb leaves town, and Roanna is left to pick up the pieces.

All her life, Roanna has tried to win the love of her grandmother, of Webb, and of her extended family—and every time she’s been slapped down. She’s had enough. Roanna withdraws from the family, and that’s when her grandmother, Lucinda, realizes how very important this misfit is to all of them. Lucinda tries to make amends to Roanna by setting in motion a chain of events that brings Webb back home. But the plan disturbs a killer who is set on vengeance—and this time, the whole family seems to be the target.

I hope you enjoy Shades of Twilight.

Sincerely,
Linda Howard

" Linda does it again. Only this one is sexually graphic (even more than others). Holds you spellbound. Had my friend read it and she could not put it down. Read it in 2 days. "

" I had no idea who'd killed Jessie until the moment the killer confessed. That's a first for me with Howard's books since she usually gives away the name of the killer early on...it's also unusual because I'm pretty good with figuring out who the villain is. I had a fleeting thought that it might be the person it turned out to be, but it was so fleeting that I discarded the idea before it really got going. Excellent story telling from Howard once again. "

" I was a little worried I would be let down by this particular title since the reviews were mixed and there was a lot of chat about the appropiateness of the relationship between the protagonists. However, it was a welcome change to have the characters without the usual Linda Howard trademark of bold and blunt heroine. I'm not saying I love wimps or shyness but the way the character of the heroine was built and how the hero drew her out tenderly, fiercely was touching. I loved it again. And their relationship didnt bother me at all. Second cousins. Far enough removed for a book. "

" What can I say about this one? I listened to 11 discs in two days time, and never wanted to put it town. A very intense, sweeping story, sometimes sad, disturbing, joyous, frustrating, and I could probably go on from there. The sex scenes were very well done. Although intense and sometimes prolific throughout the story, it was done in a way that made it even more erotic than a lot of erotic novels ever could, due to the emotions and plot of the story. I often wished towards the beginning of the novel that Rowanna would show more backbone and stand up to her cousin. But the book starts when she is just 7 and then as you read, you can see the gradual progression of her character and some of it starts to make sense. There is also a mystery in this one with a great surprise ending. I never saw the resolution coming. A definite 5 stars, although it was so intense, I don't ever think I could read it again. "

" This is a good read as well. I have read a lot of her work and this is one of my favorites. I have reread it several times. I like the way she is able to work through life issues in a real manner. : ) "

" A very absorbing story invoking many emotions with a surprising who-done-it plot but midway action slowed with too many people ruminating and I didn't completely sympathize with heroines extremes. Orphaned Roanna feels like a misfit in her wealthy family and cousin Webb does his best to help her. "
