She's hunting for a mate...
and there's no more playing it safe.
Daisy Minor is bored. Worse than that, she's boring. A plain, small-town librarian, she's got a wardrobe as sexy as a dictionary and hasn't been on a date in years. She's never even had a lukewarm love affair, let alone a hot one. So when she wakes up on her thirty-fourth birthday and wonders how it is that she still lives with her widowed mom and spinster aunt while her friends have all gotten married and started families, she decides it's time to get a life -- and a sex life. And as far as she can tell, good girls don't attract nearly as many men as bad ones.
One makeover later, Daisy has transformed herself into a party girl extraordinaire. She's dancing the night away at clubs, and laughing and flirting with men for the first time in, well, forever. With a new lease on her own place, it's open season for manhunting.
But on her way home late one night, Daisy sees something she's not supposed to see. Suddenly the target of a killer, she's forced to put her manhunt on hold. But the very moment she stops looking might be the moment she finds what she's wanted all along.

"One of the funnier Linda Howards I've read, a goofy heroine with a confused hero who doesn't quite know what to make of her. Some typical Howards cliches - virgin heroine, alpha cop hero, some disregard for safe sex - but it was interesting enough and I liked the main couple and her crazy family."

"A thriller...with deftness and charm."
— Orlando (FL) Sentinel" I really liked it. I love all of Lindas work. Jack and daisy were cute together. Not enough of the two of them for me but still a good read. Todd wasn't gay???? he didn't pass the PUCE test lol. and the end????? anyone else find it a tad weird... "
— Tiffluvsaaron, 2/8/2014" This book started off a little slow and a little too girly for me but once it got into the actual suspense part it picked up. Definitely glad I read it but not sure I would read it again. There were definitely some amusing parts to it -- two being the condom scene and also the first night that Daisy got Midas. I can definitely relate to the whole puppy scene because it reminds me of when my dog was a puppy. :) "
— Mark, 1/31/2014" I enjoyed it. I didn't feel like I couldn't wait til the next page but I thought it was enjoyable... really cute and funny in alot of places. "
— Missy, 1/28/2014" This wasn't one of Linda's best books. The plot could have been much better with a scattered twist to make it interesting but it wasn't bad. The condom scene was a riot... I actually laughed out loud when they were trying to decide on the colour. That was worth the price of the book. "
— Bridget, 1/25/2014" I love Linda Howard books! This one didn't disappoint. although, I do have to agree with the other reviews about Jennifer and Sikes. Seemed weird to put them in the epilouge, but not carry through with the story. "
— Tara, 1/19/2014" LOve this for hero and heroine alone "
— Alisha, 1/16/2014" first book i read of LH and i was not dissapointed. loved the chemistry between Daisy and Jack... "
— MIAO, 1/14/2014" my mother loanded me this while on vacation with her in TX.. it is really funny.. meant to be so, and a quick good read.. "

— Debi, 1/1/2014" For the number of times I've re-read this, want to say 4 1/2 stars. What a hero -- and Midas was such a cute dog -- plus all the puce talk! "
— Janet, 12/12/2013" Think of this as a romantic suspense book and not a thriller and you will be good to go :) Very amusing and perfect for the beach! "
— Kathryn, 11/22/2013" Daisy gets tired of being a frumpy librarian - new clothes, hair, makeup, and suddenly she's a knock-out. While "clubbing", witnesses a tragedy, and suddenly her life is *really* different. It was okay, but I just didn't relate to the characters at all. "
— Kitty, 11/15/2013" Couldn't put this one down! Loved the romance, the family and, of course, the suspense. The latter kept me on pins and needles until I fininshed the book. "
— Debra, 11/4/2013" Open Season has a little bit of everything. Romance, mystery, and librarians! What's not to love? "
— Homewood, 10/29/2013" I usually dont read these kind of books but this author made it hard to put down. I have since been reading more and more of her books and i really enjoy them. "
— Melanie, 8/19/2013" this is a quick read. ok book. predictable, and at times, very cheesy, but still entertaining. "
— Tracie, 4/28/2013" Loved this one! The scene about the condoms was hilarious! "
— Carie, 12/13/2012" so so thriller featuring blue stocking librarian in small town america "

— Celeste, 8/28/2012" I loved listening to this book. Hokey and fun fluff. "
