Forced to flee Napoleon’s rampaging army on the continent, orphaned Alana Farmer and her eccentric guardian make a new home for themselves in London. There, Alana enjoys every privilege a daughter of the nobility could hope for, plus an education fit for a queen. Now, on the eve of her debut into London Society, she learns the shocking secret of her birthright. Can it be true? Is she really the lost princess of the European kingdom of Lubinia? Persuaded by her guardian to return to their homeland to quell a bloody revolt, Alana finds herself in an isolated, mountainous country whose customs strike her as medieval!
With controversy and intrigue brewing around the beautiful newcomer, Christoph Becker, the captain of the palace guards, arrests Alana on suspicion that she is either a wily imposter or a seductive spy working for the shadowy figures determined to depose the king. No stranger himself to seduction, Christoph uses every means at his disposal to draw the truth from his alluring prisoner, even if he must lay his own life on the line to protect her from harm. Now, as a fiery passion flares between Alana and the man who has wrongly imprisoned her, the fate of a nation rests in their hands and on their hearts.
In each of her dazzling bestsellers, Johanna Lindsey’s “mastery of historical romance” (Entertainment Weekly) shines stronger than ever!

"I've always loved the "lost past" types of stories, lost family, etc. or in this case, lost princess. Maybe that's because some days I hope I'm a lost princess, but we all know how well that wish will turn out. I loved Poppie as the reformed assassin that raised Alana as his own. I loved Alana as a strong and independent woman. I would have liked to see her show those skills once she arrived in Lubinia. I adored Christoph as the strong and sexy palace guard. I did find this story seemed to gloss over or become vague whenever the characters became intimate. I can't remember if this is a trait of all Lindsey novels or if this was something new for these characters. Otherwise, great story by a great author!"

" A fairy tale just for me. Not sure how well written it being a romance and all but I loved it anyway. The fairy tale slightly reminded me of Merlin's Keepwith less darkness and sorcery. "
— Charlotte, 2/6/2014" Good plot, but just felt it was lacking. Have read other books by JL that were better. Hope it was just an "off book". "
— Susan, 2/2/2014" I have been reading Johanna Lindsey's books for 28 years and she has never disappointed me :) "
— Donna, 2/1/2014" UGH... if not for the cover picture, this book would be a total loss. I slugged through this book muttering to myself - stupid book, stupid book. Alana is apparently trained as a male in both academics and weaponry. But with her first look at Christoph, her brain falls out of her head, as well as the clothes off her back. The always moody Christoph all but rapes the girl at their first meeting which some how endears him to her. YIKES! Foreplay is non-existent. He just dives right in there - even while she is asleep. The murder plot was often too convoluted to follow, although there were occasional plot twists that worked. Sub-characters were more entertaining. Story seemed promising in the beginning but ended out to be too contrived and predictable. Wish I had liked it more... "
— Kathy, 1/28/2014" I love all Johanna Lindsey books... Her Mallory books are my favorite.. "
— Evy, 1/21/2014" Timeless plot, every little girl dreams of finding out she is really a princess. Well, not this time ... strong characters with a fast-paced plot make it an easy read. Great for a snow day. "
— Kimi, 1/19/2014" Classic Lindsey. She is one of my favorite authors. Must read if you love romance nivels "
— Cheryl, 1/5/2014" I really enjoyed this book. I found it moved fast and loved Alana she was strong and independant even though her life had been thrown for a loops not once but twice. It moved quickly and found that I had it read in a very short amount of time. "
— Jenny, 11/26/2013" As far as a Lindsay novel, this one is not one of her best. I did enjoy the book but most was just too hard to believe. How so many things can go wrong all at the same time just got tedious for me personally. I love Lindsey and will always be a die hard fan of hers forever! "
— Mindy, 11/11/2013" Pretty good. I think I would have finished this read sooner, if I hadn't spent so much time at "ogling" the beaufiful man on the cover! "
— Wendy, 10/5/2013" sayang terjemahannya gak asik, padahal ceritanya bagus, untung deh nih buku cuma minjem... 3 bintang saja ya :) "
