Publisher Description

A tale of dark secrets, deep love, and dangerous magic! Since childhood, Sabriel has lived outside the walls of the Old Kingdom, away from the random power of Free Magic, and away from the Dead who refuse to stay dead. But now her father, the Charter-Mage Abhorsen, is missing, and to find him Sabriel must cross back into that world. With Mogget, whose feline form hides a powerful, perhaps malevolent spirit, and Touchstone, a young Charter Mage, Sabriel travels deep into the Old Kingdom. There she confronts an evil that threatens much more than her life--and comes face-to-face with her own hidden destiny.

" This falls loosely into the genre of "steampunk." Death's adopted daughter lives at a Victorian boarding school. I just didn't care about the characters or the writing style. Steam punk is NOT my genre. "

" I got this one dirt cheap at a book fair. I almost didn't pick it up because I didn't like the cover picture, but I sure glad I did. cuz it's awesome! It's one of the best YA fantasy books and book series I have read. "

" I really wanted Sabriel to lighten up and talk more about clothes and boys and less about bells jingling out secret messages and weird insane cats trying to kill her.

"

" I had heard great things about this book, but now, fifty pages in, I still find it difficult to get into the story. It's just not holding my attention. Th writing is excellent and I'm sure the storyline is riveting, it's just not my cup of tea. "

" It was really good, loved, It also grabbed my attention and I pictured the scenes in my head which made it even more exciting, but it's not one of my favorites and I didn't follow some bits of the story though it confused me. "
