Publisher Description

Is this Artemis fowl’s Last stand?

Artemis Fowl’s archenemy Opal Koboi has masterminded a way to simultaneously secure her release from prison and bring the human and fairy worlds to their knees. And, unless Artemis can stop her, the evil pixie’s next move will destroy all human life on earth.

Ground zero is the Fowl Estate, where Opal has reanimated fairy warriors who were buried there thousands of years ago. Their spirits have possessed any vessels they can find—corpses, Artemis’s little brothers, assorted wildlife—and they are bound to obey Opal’s every command. Defeating the motley troops and their diabolical leader will require all of Artemis’s cleverness—as well as Butler’s bravery, Holly’s skill, and Foaly’s gadgetry. But if their best efforts aren’t enough, Armageddon will surely follow.

New York Times best-selling author and comic genius Eoin Colfer will leave Artemis Fowl fans gasping up to the very end of this thrilling finale to the blockbuster series.

"What do I think? An excellent ending to a fantastic series. In this final book, we see the dramatic conclusion of Artemis' character development--a real 180, genuine change. It's clever, as always, and humorous, as always, a little tear-jerky at the end, and concludes with a sort of quiet nod. I half expected a dramatic, witty ending, but it feels Artemis-Fowl-y (and appropriate to how his character has changed) to have a dramatic climax and then a quiet little "Artemis never gives up" at the end."

" And so the Artemis Fowl saga finally ends - and about due time to. How many times can we rehash Opal Koboi and her crazy plans? I feel like the later books lacked something the early books had: perhaps the antiheroic Artemis and the novelty of the faerie world. Either way, the final book was a very neat ending, albeit a bit weird. (view spoiler)[I did not expect the disintegration of the Fowl empire, or the whole technological crash of the world. I don't know how I would have liked The Last Guardian to end, but I feel like this ending has something missing. And I have to add - I'm kinda glad that there wasn't a Holly/Artemis moment. I mean, sure, it would've been cute and all, but a mushy human/elf love thing wouldn't have worked. (hide spoiler)] "

" I wish I had been able to give this book 5 stars. I've loved the Artemis Fowl series far more than I thought I would but the finale let me down just a little. It was still a good book but in my opinion Colfer used too much "deus ex machina" for my taste. I was also a little confused as to what the driving problem was but that was likely my fault since it had been about a year since I read "The Atlantis Complex". "
