"Loved this book. Finally a book from Harris where the main female character does not get hurt, though not for lack of others trying. I wish she'd do something like this with Sookie. Sounded like this could be the last book in the series, but I sure hope not. Harper, the main character, has power somewhat like a medium, but she got them after she was struck by lightening as a child. If a dead person is near by she can sense them and can usually determine what they died from. It takes a lot out of her as it can sometimes make her experience what the person felt in the last moments before death. Her Stepbrother now boyfriend has helped her for years and actually is the one who saved her when she got struck by lightening. The two go from one job to the next helping people locate their loved ones, but she can only help them if they are dead. She cannot find people who are alive. Over the years people have been upset with her findings or think she is evil because of specific talent. In this book Harper finds the answers to her own personal nightmare - what happened to her sisters 8 years prior when she mysteriously disappeared outside her school. Loved the way Harris had the story unravel. Couldn't put the book down and finished in one night. I highly recommend this one, but you really should read the previous books in the series to really appreciate this one."

“The evolving relationship between Harper and stepbrother Tolliver continues to be the heart of a series that often is about the darkness of souls. It’s riveting from beginning to end!”
— RT Book Reviews (4½ stars)“Solid…Harper and Tolliver’s relationship…is the beating heart of the story.”
— Publishers Weekly“The stakes are high on a personal level for Harper and Tolliver, which will hook followers of the series and keep them eagerly turning the pages to get to the revelatory ending.”
— Booklist" Fantastic ending to a great series, I only wish there were more than 4 books to it. Each book was better than the next. I must admit I miss Tolliver and Harper!! Best book of the series, perfect ending. "
— Carrie, 2/19/2014" Harris never seems to disappoint. I enjoy her story-telling and particularly appreciate her ability to write dialogue. I was satisfied with this as an ending to the series and look forward to her future works. "
— Christy, 2/16/2014" Loved this series. Loved the mystery and and how the relationship progressed between step brother/sister. It was interesting to read how she was able to see how the deceased how died and how the family reacted to that. "
— Kim, 12/28/2013" I'll really miss Harper and Tolliver. Good resolution. "
— Lynne, 11/19/2013" This was a lot better and far less annoying than the Sookie Stackhouse books. I wouldn't say it's great literature but it was definitely a tighter story and less annoying. "
— Melissa, 11/17/2013" what a good ending to the series "
— Cara, 9/18/2013" Have a feeling this may the last of this series as several questions brought up in the first book resolved. But it's a satisfying ending if it is. "
— Tammy, 9/18/2013" This series is weirdishly creepy yet intriguing. "
— Marie, 9/9/2013" Paranormal mystery, didn't have it all figured out. Entertaining, but I enjoy the Sookie series better. "
— Jane, 8/24/2013" This was an excited book with lots of twists and turns. Unfortunately for me, this was the last book of a series of 4 and I read it first. I'm sure it would have been better if I'd already read the other 3. I will read them soon to see. "
— Laurie, 8/15/2013" Great Book never read anything by Charlaine Harris before this book. I would recommend this book kept me entertained until the end. "
— Kelly, 2/20/2013" Such a great wrap up of mysteries in this story! I love it! "
— Jessica, 8/29/2012" 3.5 stars. I like this series. This one felt so grim to me, though. Still enjoyed it. "
— Mayakda, 8/21/2012" Great book, but the ending felt very rushed "
— Princess, 8/12/2012" Glad there was some closure. I hate suspense, but I can't seam to stop reading these books. weird. "
— Dawn, 7/31/2012" I really liked this story, but not as much as its' predecessors. I'm sad it's the last in the series. "
— Eva, 2/15/2012" I think this is my favorite out of the harper books. "
— Crystal, 1/27/2012" This was the best out of the four, I actually couldn't figure out who did what till the end. "
— Katrina, 11/6/2011" Very enjoyable book. The characters are likeable. The mystery had me guessing to the end. I enjoyed this one more than "Poppy Done To Death". "
— Kemsmiley1, 8/6/2011" So, I guess this is the end of the series, huh? "
— Sam, 6/18/2011" I guess it wasn't about Harper's ability so much as it was about her family so it wasn't my favourite ... It did however tie up all the loose ends! (I figure it was the last in the series and it definitely did it's job at ending it) "
— Elise, 6/13/2011" Okay, I'm hooked! and this is the last one. Charlaine is releasing a graphic novel of this series in June, but I find graphic novels big rip-offs. Charlaine really can keep the suspence up and craft very likeable characters. "
— Debbie, 5/29/2011" Liked this. Would have liked it more if I had read the previous three books in the series. Whoops. "
— Kim, 5/22/2011" 4stars-- I couldn't put this one down. Although I'm still not a fan of the main character- the mystery and tying up all the plots though out the series really kept the book moving. "
— Amy, 5/20/2011" best of the 4 and we get to find out what really happened to Harpers sister. "
— Myhotstylist, 5/18/2011" very interesting end. pretty abrupt though, i think this will be the last book of this series, which is a bummer - i enjoyed reading about harper's ability and the story's of the victim. "
— ?, 5/13/2011" end book of the series has some good plot twists and does wrap up a few lose ends. :-) "
— Charmayne, 5/12/2011" A vast improvement over the last book in the series. I loved it because it answered a lot of questions... not sure what else there is left to do for these characters though... "
— Anita, 5/11/2011" I loved this series (much preferred it to the far-more-successful Sookie series), but this conclusion was disappointing. If Harper doesn't want people to think it's weird that she's dating her (step)brother, STOP INTRODUCING HIM AS YOUR BROTHER. "
— Lauren, 5/5/2011" Not sure where Harris can take this series from here, but I look forward to finding out. "
