"Once things got started with this book I was like "what?". I really didn't get the plot....it seemed to come out of nowhere....and the side story with the wood delivery at the beginning was just bizarre. I thought the "mystery" part was pretty good aside from it feeling out of place. I wasn't expecting the twist in Aurora's life at the end. I'm wondering where the series will go at thiis point with currently two books left."

“A gripping tale...Harris mixes elements of a cozy and her darker themes with skill and panache.”
— Publishers Weekly“This second Roe Teagarden mystery is capably written and accurately captures the varied landscapes of Georgia and Ohio. Although the tale starts out like an endearing cozy with a Southern accent, Harris ambushes the reader with a stunning ending that carries the impact of Sherlock Holmes falling into the Reichenbach Falls.”
— Booklist“Live-wire action, small-town antics, unexpected plot ramifications, and a humorous tone make for fine reading.”
— Library Journal“Gossipy, blithe, often funny—with a wind-up that’s fierce, shocking, and poignant. A winner for Harris.”
— Kirkus Reviews" When Martin's niece shows up at their home with a baby, Aurora and Martin don't know what to do. After putting them in the garage apartment, they out to dinner, returning they find a dead body on the steps leading to the apartment, the niece missing and the baby left. They travel to Ohio to try to find relatives to care for the baby, and in the process find out why the niece was running and the killer of the baby's father "
— Janet, 2/6/2014" I love this series (and this author's other series too) and this was no exception. Quirky characters, gruesome murders and a light fun tone make this a really enjoyable read. And as a bonus, Roe is a librarian! "
— Lorraine, 1/29/2014" well fudge, that was sad! "
— Natalie, 1/28/2014" This one was a bit darker then the rest but still exciting and a fun read. Looking forward to the next one. "
— Shelley, 1/25/2014" This was the first I've read by Charlaine Harris. This was a lightly written, modern day mystery. While I had the who done it part figured out, nothing surprised me more than the totally unexpected twists and turns. Aurora Teagarden's niece shows up on their doorstep with a baby no one knew she had. This was the beginning of a saga that brought Aurora and Martin back to Martin's hometown where they learned more than they bargained for about their family and neighbors. I liked this book and look forward to reading more from Harris. "
— Ann, 1/20/2014" I have loved every book in this series, until now. So bummed. Didn't enjoy the plot & hated the ending. Can't say anything else, because I don't want to spoil for others who may be reading. "
— Lori, 1/11/2014" Made for a good vacation read. "
— Debi, 12/30/2013" I like Aurora..but the plots leave something to be desired. "
— Michele, 12/18/2013" The sixth Aurora Teagarden mystery. Sure, I'm hooked and have the seventh on hold at my library because this one is a real shocker. "
— Ann, 12/7/2013" I love this series, but this was the last one I read. I won't tell you why, because it will reveal too much, but I dont have the heart to read the next few. "
— K., 12/6/2013" Another quick & easy read. This series is my favorite Charlaine Harris series because she leaves the sex out and just sticks with the story. I appreciate that. "
— Brenda, 7/8/2013" Wow. This one was great. Very emotional. "
— Buffy, 2/20/2013" great book, as all the rest have been, but the ending was so sad "
— Kristin, 10/13/2012" Not my favorite one of the series, too sad. "
— Shaunesay, 3/21/2012" Definitely my least favorite so far in this series. Roe was totally annoying, the story was disjointed and the ending was just plain weird. "
— Margarita, 12/12/2011" not as engrossing as previous books but it was ok "
— Marcia, 11/26/2011" just not into this series...this was a decent story, but at the end, the long term arc just happened...we began the book in a certain "stage" of Roe's life, and now, it's changed with little fanfare. "
— Elaine, 11/16/2011" One of the librarian Teagarden series. Woman disappears, leaving her baby behind. Husband found dead at the scene. Who did it? Whose baby is it really? Suspenseful, fast read. "
— Patty, 10/28/2011" Very entertaining. A quick read. This is the 6th book in a series, but the first one I read. "
— Jen, 10/27/2011" I just finished book #6, A Fool and His Honey, in this series, and I just loved it. I couldn't stop reading! I have actually read three books in this series in two days, because they are so good that I just have to see what happens next to Roe and the other characters. "
— Nancy, 10/13/2011" Excellent. Sophisticated storyline, best one yet. "
— Hannah, 5/17/2011" Mystery, romance and humor again brought this book to life. A sad ending, but opens the door to so much more in the next book. "
— Norma, 4/28/2011" Even though I am reading (have read) the whole series in one gulp, this book make me wonder why I bother, what with a murder, a baby, a mystery explained, snow and lots of it, more death and finally the writing out of a main character. Fun times.
"
— Bookmole, 4/21/2011" I find it hard to believe that anyone can be that clueless when it comes to kids. And the ending was sad. "
— Heather, 4/4/2011" A little over the top, but I admit the ending made me go to the library from the next book in the series. "
— Cathy, 3/21/2011" Surprise ending! Whow would have thought!? "
— Micaela, 3/10/2011" This is a new series staring Ro Teagarden and I was so bored with these two books that I ended up reading the first fifty pages then finishing the last forty. Charline Harris is a wonderful writer but I just don’t like Ro. She’s a weenie, whinny, silly woman. Well, you can’t win them all. "
— Vfields, 2/8/2011" Predictable but still a fun, mindless read
"
— Cindy, 1/31/2011" I just finished book #6, A Fool and His Honey, in this series, and I just loved it. I couldn't stop reading! I have actually read three books in this series in two days, because they are so good that I just have to see what happens next to Roe and the other characters. "
— Nancy, 1/23/2011" I must say I absolutely hate the fact that Charlaine Harris killed off Martin. I'm furious. I really don't know if I want to continue the series. I'm glad there is only 2 more books. Blah. "
— Amy, 1/17/2011" This one was a bit darker then the rest but still exciting and a fun read. Looking forward to the next one. "
— Shelley, 1/4/2011" Wow. I really like these books, but the ending on this one really surprised me. "
