Paige Winterbourne was always either too young or too rebellious to succeed her mother as leader of one of the world's most powerful elite organizations—the American Coven of Witches. Now that she is twenty-three and her mother is dead, the Elders can no longer deny her. But even Paige's wildest antics can't hold a candle to those of her new charge—an orphan who is all too willing to use her budding powers for evil...and evil is all too willing to claim her. For this girl is being pursued by a dark faction of the supernatural underworld. They are a vicious group who will do anything to woo the young, malleable, and extremely powerful neophyte, including commit murder—and frame Paige for the crime. It's an initiation into adulthood, womanhood, and the brutal side of magic that Paige will have to do everything within her power to make sure they both survive.

"I've always been fond of paranormal stories and I am quickly racing through Kelley Armstrong's back catalogue. The Witch magic stories of the Otherworld series are probably my favourites and Paige and Savannah are great examples of Armstrong's tendency to write strong capable female characters. I don't think I will read anything else until I finish this series."

— L.j., 12/31/2013" Great book although I thought the main character (Paige) was a bit slow on the uptake when it came to the situations she go herself into. Otherwise it was an enjoyable book. "
— Jill, 12/27/2013" While I enjoyed the suspense of the story, I found the heroine migrating toward the the To Stupid To Live category. Some of the things this girl does are just beyond the realm of logic. Beyond that, the situations escalate in a farcical manner. But I still really like the "
— Cacophony, 12/22/2013" I was reluctant to read this one because it didn't feature the characters from the first two but was determined to give it a go. I was pleasantly surprise to find myself falling in love with the new characters and eagerly read on to the next one. The action never stops! "
