Meet car mechanic and coyote shapeshifter Mercy Thompson, star of Patricia Briggs's #1 New York Times bestselling series. Being a lowly "walker" in a world of vampires, werewolves, and fae once kept her safe. But Mercy's bark-and bite-are not so harmless any more...
Though Mercy Thompson can shift her shape into that of a coyote, her loyalty never wavers. So when her former boss and mentor, Zee, asks for her help, she's there for him. A series of murders has rocked a fae reservation, and Zee needs her unique gifts, namely her coyote sense of smell, to sniff out the killer.
But when Zee is accused of murdering the suspect Mercy outed, he's left to rot behind bars by his own kind. Now it's up to Mercy to clear his name, whether he wants her to or not.
Mercy's loyalty is under pressure from other directions, too. Werewolves are not known for their patience, and if Mercy can't decide between the two she cares for, Sam and Adam may make the choice for her...

"Ok so apparently the reviews on the Mercy series are mixed by other readers. I personally love them. I have to say it's been a long time since I've read the older books so I'm not going to address each book specifically but talk about the series in general. I enjoyed reading each book in the series and because I like them so much I even read (and of course loved) the Alpha & Omega spinoff too. I think that Briggs is a great writer and I like her writing style (though from the reviews others disagree). I especially like her depiction of the fae because I think if they did exist, they'd be just as she describes them. Briggs' story lines are strong and well developed, she writes with realistic dialogue and her figurative language is enough to paint the picture but not overkill the scene with too many details....and besides, who doesn't love a book series that includes a vampire that drives around in a VW bus painted like the Mystery Machine from Scooby-Doo?? :-)"

" We know that Vampires are dangerous and why they do what they do, we have a basic understanding of the nature of werewolves and the powerful fea but the most demoralizing and atrocious monsters do not strike us as threatening at all until ... To the survivor: "You are a beautiful beast!" "

— Matt, 10/20/2020" This series is exceptional, minus the.small repetitions mainly in the beginning This story is the struggle for Mercy to choose between 2 men/warewolves that love her . "
— Divinedonskoy, 12/13/2017" Even though this story was set in the realm of fantasy with fae and werewolves, I found myself identifying with the main character.
