If you had met me a few weeks ago, you probably would have described me as an average teenage girl—someone normal. Now my life has changed forever and I'm as far away from normal as it gets. A living science experiment—not only can I see ghosts, but I was genetically altered by a sinister organization called the Edison Group. What does that mean? For starters, I'm a teenage necromancer whose powers are out of control; I raise the dead without even trying. Trust me, that is not a power you want to have. Ever.
Now I'm running for my life with three of my supernatural friends—a charming sorcerer, a cynical werewolf, and a disgruntled witch—and we have to find someone who can help us before the Edison Group finds us first. Or die trying.

"This book was my favorite in the series, not only do you learn more about the supernatural world but you learn more about Chloe and her friends. Tori's personality is explained and altered little by little, Chloe and Simon become closer. But I think Derek went through the most character development and bonding (other than Chloe) in this book."

“Round two of Armstrong’s Darkest Powers trilogy continues, following the first-person exploits of teenage necromancer Chloe Saunders...As the characters and their relationships evolve, the story foreshadows intriguing potential plot developments. Top notch as always!”
— RT Book Reviews“A page-turner. Readers will anticipate the book to follow.”
— VOYA“Armstrong has some fun toying with supernatural teen thriller conventions, and the taut pacing should please fans of the exploding genre.”
— Booklist“Armstrong does an admirable job of walking the fine line between making things too easy for the group and putting unnecessary obstacles in their path…even surpasses its predecessor, The Summoning.”
— School Library Journal“Teens grappling with their own transformations and alienating individuality will certainly follow these characters to the book’s final pages and into the next volume.”
— Kirkus Reviews" I'm really starting to love this series. Although it can be slow at times it not boring. But like the first book, they leave you hanging wanting more! The writing is great and for a teen novel isnt at all preachy. And with all the other supernatural books other currently this one is very refreshing and different. "
— Geli, 2/15/2014" I liked this book so much I read it in two days. It was so good I couldn't put it down. I just read all weekend. This book put me on the edge of my seat while I read it. I cannot wait to get the next/last book to the series, "The Reckoning" "
— Sammy, 2/4/2014" It was as good as the first part of the series - maybe even better! "
— Shy, 1/21/2014" The pace certainly picked up and the plot thickens. Liked the whole roadtrip and bonding going on between our four supernaturals. I'm just waiting for Chloe and Derek to get together ;-) Sure Simon sound adorable but wolfie is just more! "
— Vibeke, 1/18/2014" this is the other best book i have read "
— Saga, 1/11/2014" series review to come on my blog "
— Terri, 1/7/2014" There's something unsatisfactory about this book that I can't quite put my finger on. It's lacking a certain je nais se quois. :) "
— Bjørnar, 12/28/2013" Loved it!!! Finished in two days!!! Reading third one now!!! "
— Hallie, 9/12/2013" Loved the entire trilogy as a young twelve year old. I'll probably re-read it and give it a proper review. "
— Ika, 8/29/2013" I would give this book 3.5 stars. It is an interesting book but there are a lot of slower parts to the story. I will finish out the trilogy but I won't say it is a favorite of mine. I heard really good things about this author so I hope her other books are better. "
— Holly, 4/27/2013Kelley Armstrong is the author of young adult fiction, paranormal romance, urban fantasy, and mysteries in stand-alone novels and over fifteen series. Frostbitten, The Gathering, and No Humans Involved were New York Times bestsellers. She believes experience is the best teacher, though she has been told this shouldn’t apply to writing her murder scenes. To craft her books, she has studied aikido, archery, and fencing. She sucks at all of them. She has also crawled through very shallow cave systems and climbed half a mountain before chickening out.
Cassandra Morris has received critical acclaim for her voice-over work from Publishers Weekly and AudioFile magazine, earning a dozen Earphones Awards and twice been a finalist for the prestigious Audie Award for best narration. Her voice has also been heard on television in commercial campaigns and numerous Nickelodeon and Disney products. She is the voice of many cartoon characters, including Leo and Luna in Yu-Gi-Oh, Carrie in Barbie: A Fairy Secret, Nathan in Pokémon, and Lola in Angelo Rules.
