It's five days before Christmas and things are not looking merry for Fugitive Apprehension Agent Stephanie Plum. She hasn't got a tree. She hasn't bought any presents. The malls are jam-packed with staggering shoppers. There's not a twinkle light anywhere to be seen in her apartment. And there's a strange man in her kitchen. Sure, this has happened to Stephanie Plum before. Strangers, weirdos, felons, creeps, and lunatics are always finding their way to her front door. But this guy is different. This guy is mysterious, sexy-and he has his own agenda. His name is Diesel and he is a man on a mission. And Diesel is unlike anyone Stephanie has ever met before in her life. The question is, what does he want with her? Can he help her find a little old toy maker who has skipped out on his bail right before Christmas? Can he survive the Plum family holiday dinner? Can he get Stephanie a tree that doesn't look like it was grown next to a nuclear power plant? These questions and more are keeping Stephanie awake at night. Not to mention the fact that she needs to find a bunch of nasty elves, her sister Valerie has a Christmas "surprise" for the Plums, her niece Mary Alice doesn't believe in Santa anymore, and Grandma Mazur has a new stud muffin. So bring out the plastic reindeer, strap on your jingle bells, and get ready to celebrate the holidays-Jersey style. In Janet Evanovich's Visions of Sugar Plums, the world of Plum has never been merrier!

"So I almost started #9 and knew something was off when I read Valerie was pregnant. Well stop, and go back to read this one first. Although it probably isn't crucial to 9, a true plumfan isn't about to let a book go by unread. The one doesn't leave you dissapointed either. Although Evanovich leaves Ranger out of this one, she brings back little person, Randy Briggs and introduces us to Diesel, a worthy new character. I enjoyed is short read and am ready to jump into 9!"

“Outrageous.
— Entertainment Weekly on the Stephanie Plum novelsHot and Sassy.
— Boston Herald on the Stephanie Plum novelsHot Six is a highly enjoyable romp...
— Rochelle O'Gorman, Los Angeles Times review of Audio Renaissance Edition." See One For The Money. "
— Jenn, 2/13/2014" didn't like this at all. Very "hokey". I'm assuming that she wrote this prior to the Stephanie Plum series. Not recommended, and yes she continued to write "Diesel" stories. I'm not rushing to them especially after reading this first one. "
— Karin, 2/11/2014" Terrible. I love this series but this book seemed to be written by an entirely different author. It was weird and boring. Certain characters were clearly left out on purpose and no real explanation for new ones. "
— Isha, 2/3/2014" Cute, but not the best of the series. "
— Daphne, 2/2/2014" Between the numbers still has Stephanie Plum, but her romances with Morelli and Ranger are somewhat set aside as she deals with a hot angel who needs her help solving mysteries. "
— Liz, 1/21/2014" First Evanovich book I've read. May help if I get acquainted with some of the characters before I dive into a book in the middle of the series. Still, some interesting passages, but obviously a throw-away book for current fans. "
— Kevin, 1/16/2014" This short Stephanie Plum story is actually the length that all Stephanie Plum novels should be... short! "
— A.E., 1/13/2014" i loved this book... i love the stephanie plum series and christmas stories and this was both in one... there should be more "
— Cheryl, 1/6/2014" This was not my favorite of the books, it was way too short and it didn't have the humor that the books normally have. I read it out of order because I didn't know where it fit, but found out after I read to the nines and there was a development I was not aware of. "
— Marianne, 11/30/2013" This is a fun holiday read! Read this book curled up in front of the fire with a cup of hot chocolate (spiked with peppermint schnapps, as Stephanie would drink it, of course)and some Christmas cookies. "
— Annie, 11/29/2013" This book was funny, which is Janet Evanovich's trademark but what was the point of it? I don't think this novella was required. "
— Anushka, 10/24/2013" I don't really care for the 'in between' numbers and this one is odd "
— Teri, 9/27/2013" I'm a sucker for Christmas stories and I loved this one "
— Sarahm, 9/11/2013" Love these little in-between books! "
— Samantha, 8/24/2013" decided to read this book while Im waitng for 7 and and 9 of the stephanie plum series it was ok not as good as the other plum series but still entertaining "
— Jacqueline, 8/6/2013" Not my favorite Plum novel. It becomes a bit too corny adding in the fantastical with the crazy. "
— Tiana, 8/3/2013" I was looking for a cute Christmasey themed book. This had the right theme but was rather lame. "
— Courtney, 7/19/2013" It gets two stars (rather than one) only because it carried on the normal storyline enough for me to see when Steph's sister found out she was preganant & the initial reaction of those around her. Beyond that, pretty terrible. I love the rest of the series, but this one is bad. "
— Jo, 7/15/2013" Not as great as the regular novels, but still a fun read-especially around the holidays. I didn't even know these existed, so it was a nice surprise until more of the Stephanie Plum books come out. "
— Brooxie, 4/24/2013" Maybe I'm missing something...or I just don't believe. But this one was a little too supernatural for me. "
— Melissa, 12/20/2012" A quick read but still a fun chase all the same. "
— Carolyn, 12/5/2012" This was pretty cute. Liked that they added a new interest for her. Love that Morielli gave her a ring even tho it's not a engagement ring and love that he is not a over jealous person and takes all these men in stride. Wish Ranger showed up in this a bit. "
— Jennifer, 11/29/2012" A cute filler between her other books "
— Pandora, 10/23/2012" it was cute! i'm starting to like this Diesel character!!! "
— Jennie, 5/17/2012" i know this is just an 'in between' book of her plum series, but it just wasn't the same. yeah there were a few good laughs and we got to meet diesel, ANOTHER guy who has the hots for stephanie. but over all, the feel of the book just wasn't the same. "
— Stephanie, 1/22/2012" We did not like the character diesel, a super-natural character. "
— Frank, 1/6/2012" A silly little story leaving more questions than answers but I enjoyed it. Several laugh out loud moments. "
— Mary, 12/5/2011" Very short (163 pages) and easy read, but not my favorite from the Plum series. All the books are a bit 'out there' but this one was way more far-fetched that the others I've read. None-the-less, and entertaining quick read. "
— Brooke, 11/22/2011" It was interesting to get some of the back story on Diesel, since he shows up in Evanovich's newest series. "
— cristina, 11/4/2011" Cute story, not my favorite Stephanie Plum, but not bad either. "
— Amanda, 8/2/2011" Very different from the rest of the books in the series... Not sure how I feel about it, but if you don't read it, you'll miss developments that will impact some characters in the next novel. "
— Carol, 5/23/2011" Diesel is awesome :D Steph had a pretty cool christmas ... Worth reading. "
— Miranda, 5/8/2011" This is the first "Between the Numbers" novella, which is Christmas-themed and features Stephanie and her family. It was extremely amusing and a fast read. There's a bit of fantasy in it, which is fine by me! "
— Marissa, 5/6/2011" Yeah, so, ummm, I don't like Diesel. Nope. No I don't. Actually, I kinda didn't like this whole story. Sandy Klause? Really? The whole thing felt REALLY contrived...plus I missed Ranger. :(

Let's just get Steph back to doing her job and leave the elves at home, shall we? "
— pianogal, 5/3/2011" Typical Stephanie Plum story and that's why I ready them. She's the Lucille Ball of the crime scene. "
— Debbie, 4/28/2011" A quick read. Not one of the better Stephanie Plum books... "
— Sharlena, 4/25/2011" By the notes in my journal, I thought it was pretty good for a short Christmas story. "
— Jeni, 4/20/2011" All I can say is, I love Diesel. "
— Samantha, 4/17/2011" I have loved the number books, they are always good for a light read but this one just wasn't up to the numbers. The same characters but it just seemed like a rip off to add more income. "
— Paula, 4/8/2011" Not as good as the numbered Stephanie Plum Series, but still good "
— Steph, 4/5/2011" What can I say?? Any book with Stephenie Plum is a wiiner with me! "
