"Typical Stephanie Plum book, at times exasperating, at times laugh out loud funny (read for Earl eating lasagna with Stephanies family, and Carl the monkey if nothing else). AS always in her books something will get you laughing aloud and that is not a bad thing. At all or ever."

Quotes

  • “Lorelei King does her usual superlative job for the Evanovich oeuvre, adding juice and dimension to each wacky character…. King enhances the humor of this series, so much so that Evanovich fans should consider putting down that book and plugging in the CD player instead.

    — Publishers Weekly, Starred Review
  • With an author like Evanovich, with many books, you get a feeling for how you think the characters will sound.... [Lorelei King] nailed them all.... I was so entranced by the reader that I kept listening until the end.

    — Deadly Pleasures
  • [Lorelei King's] throaty, self-assured voice, judiciously paced reading style, and matter-of-fact tones create a natural-sounding delivery that adds realism to this story of Stephanie Plum's search for a killer named Grimoire and his new business partner, a boy genius and physicist named Martin Munch.

    — AudioFile magazine
  • [King's] characterizations make for laugh-aloud listening.

    — The Chapel Hill Herald
  • Evanovich is a sharp, funny, contemporary and clever writer... [with] a great cast of characters... Ms. Evanovich made me a convert.

    — Winston-Salem Journal

" A Between-the-numbers story: only for die-hard Stephanie Plum fans. No zing, no real mystery but a bit of supernatural. Pure mindless entertainment. ??Halloween?? But the Easter Bunny shows up... Not even "spooky." Monkeys galore... "

" Aaaannnndddd I'm done with this series. Sigh, I will miss it. Although this was my least favorite of all the books I still gave it three stars because it had a cute little monkey in it. "

" I really wish Evanovich would focus again... This was definitely inferior, even for a Plum story. Over the top and wildly implausible, even for a Plum story. I didn't realize it was out, and bought it in BWI, which meant paying full price, which it definitely wasn't worth. "

" I've never read an Evanovich book before, but after looking into her style, I guess this book was pretty typical. I was expecting more of a "Patterson feel", which there was a suspense element to the book, but it never got gory, and even had funny moments at times. I wish I had known this for the first half, as I would've appreciated those elements more. (Now I know for the future). This would be a good "Chick Lit Suspense" book, or even a "Beach Read." "
