Set amid the austere beauty of the North Carolina coast, The Choice tells the story of Travis Parker, a small-town veterinarian who’s perfectly content with the active and exciting life he leads. Since he uses his spare time bungee jumping and swimming with the dolphins, he can’t shake the belief that a woman would simply slow him down—until Gabby Holland enters his life.

Gabby, Travis’ new neighbor, is in love with her boyfriend of three years—and wants nothing more than to start planning the wedding she’s always dreamed about. But connection between Travis and Gabby is just a beginning. As their tale unfolds, their relationship becomes something different—with much higher stakes.

Quotes & Awards

  • “A tender and moving love story and a quick read, Sparks’ latest does not disappoint.”

    Publishers Weekly

  • “Holter Graham gives a polished performance with his versatile skills and vocal range…A compelling story.”

  • “Sparks is a master at creating beautiful, old-fashioned courtships coupled with bittersweet dilemmas, and this is no exception, as it pulls the reader into the story just as The Notebook did. Once again, Sparks presents a complex and captivating contemporary romance that will satisfy his many fans.”

  • “Reading in a low-key southern accent, Graham excellently interprets this riveting romance, sensitively and responsively adapting his tones to reflect Parker’s struggle to do the right thing. His apt pacing and emotion-laden reading make the protagonist’s deepening angst most palpable. Appropriate music bracketing each disc helps to deepen and enhance the tension. Sparks’ fans will be pleased.”

" A pretty typical Nicholas Sparks novel. Not his best, but not a bad read, either. "

" An awesome story, the characters are amazing, they made me laugh, cry at the end. Travis is a real man, because he made a choice for keeping Gabby alive, carrying father, love his daughters and love his life, he stayed strong for the sake of his family and friends. he never gave up despite the will that Gabby has written. we can learn a lot from Travis and Gabby they are a great Iconic couple, true love. It's kinda of A CHOICE to make if we passed in this kind of situation, but it's up to us to stay strong and hold on to what we believe, this book shows us how to have faith and hope in everything we do or happen in our life because everything happens for a reason and everything will be alright at the end, if it doesn't ..it's not the end :). i was so into this book, that's why i finished it in 9 days. " Although I enjoyed the book, something with this one left me a little disappointed. The story was good, and although it was slow, you don't realise as it keeps you reading. Then when time jumped, I was left a little confused as to what had happened as a clear explanation wasn't there at first. The rest was good, although I would have preferred a little more originality in the end. Won't stop me from reading another Sparks book though. "
