They died with smiles on their faces. Three apparent suicides: a brilliant engineer, an infamous lawyer, and a controversial politician. Three strangers with nothing in common - and no obvious reasons for killing themselves. Police lieutenant Eve Dallas found the deaths suspicious. And her instincts paid off when autopsies revealed small burns on the brains of the victims. Was it a genetic abnormality or a high-tech method of murder? Eve’s investigation turned to the provocative world of virtual reality games - where the same techniques used to create joy and desire could also prompt the mind to become the weapon of its own destruction . . .

"I finished this book a couple of days ago and I've already started on the next one. These books just keep getting better, and the characters are becoming like family. I can see the relationship between Eve and Roarke becoming deeper and more committed in each story. She is such a strong woman, so independent, and it's hard for her to totally reveal herself to anyone. Can't wait to see where all this is going!"

“Sexy, gritty, richly imagined suspense.”
— Publishers Weekly" I'M HOOKED...TRYING TO LISTEN TO ALL BOOKS IN THE SERIES IN ORDER! WISH ME LUCK... "
— SUZIQUE, 10/26/2022" Great if looking for a romance mystery. I like how she implements all the romance while keeping the story line around the detective story. "
— Debra, 4/5/2019" I was very intrigued by the connection of the victims through the "spot" on their brain! It makes the book seem futuristic and makes one want to research a little to see if this could really happen! "
— Terry, 5/24/2017" Another solid, if simple mystery in the "In Death" series, it balances the romance and mystery elements fairly well, although like the previous books the guilty party seemed fairly obvious from quite early on. Solid, if unexceptional reads. "
— This, 2/10/2014" I liked the whole idea of virtual reality being used to change a person, although it is also a frightening possibility. The possibilities are endless - it could make me love exercise, eating only healthy foods, gardening and housecleaning! "
— Christie, 2/7/2014" Not my favorite of these books. Can't even say why. "
— Journeywoman, 2/5/2014" As I read over some of the reviews of this "In Death" series, I cannot help but to think the male audience is extremely limited. Anyway I thoroughly enjoyed the first four books of this series and I am particularly enjoying the development of the characters. I think I am doomed to read the entire series. "
— Don, 1/29/2014" I've been listening to the audiobooks of this series and love it!!! Only 27 more books in the series to go! "
— Erika, 1/26/2014" ga bakalan ada yang sekeren Roarke... Love Roarke ^^v "
— Imelda, 1/17/2014" mind control and Roarke :) nuf said "
— Jannine, 1/3/2014" This series is just so awesome on audio. The woman that reads it IS Eve AND Roarke AND Peabody, etc. It adds a lot of spice and they are just soooo much fun. "Rapture" made me laugh on loud during rush hour on several occasions. Priceless. "
— Stefanie, 12/11/2013" I'm still enjoying this series. It is a light, quick read and nice to read between those "heavier" books. This book did get a little further into futuristic technology which was very interesting. "
— Dalene, 12/7/2013" another good one! definitely will read more In Death! "
— Chawkins, 10/27/2013" Not as good as previous books in the series. But I enjoy Eve Dallas and will continue to work through the novels. "
— Janet, 10/4/2013" This one is a disturbing one. Suicide is never fun to read, and that they died with a smile on their faces seriously tripped me out. "
— Gina, 8/18/2013" Not my favorite but still pretty good fluff. Guilty. "
— Jenn, 7/3/2013" Eve Dallas is a great character! "
— Julie, 3/30/2013" Wah, ini pembunuhan teknologi canggih, percaya gak kita bsa mati hya gara-gara gelombang otak kita disadap..hanya ditemuka di era 2058 versi J.D Robb...wuihh kemajuan teknologi memang menakutkan "
— Sari, 3/21/2013" Roarke just keeps getting better and better. This is my favourite in the series so far. "
— Jane(Janelba), 11/10/2012" Interesting concept on murder with this one. When is suicide not suicide? "
— Erin, 2/15/2012" This series gets better and better with each new book of Nora Roberts i read. "
— Temple, 2/10/2012" Liked this a little less than the previous three. We'll see how the next few fare. "
— Maryann, 1/28/2012" One of my favorite entries in the series. "
— Amber, 12/5/2011" I always seem to know who the bad guy is too soon! "
— Amanda, 10/24/2011" interesting concepts in this book. it makes me look forward and scared at the same time to the future. "
— Rebecca, 9/12/2011" Just like all the JD Robb "...in death" books, this one is a nice, good guys win, entertaining read. I love the fact that you can pick up any of these books at any time without reading them in order and still know exactly what is going on. Makes them perfect Library books! "
— Maria, 6/7/2011" I didn't like this nearly as much as the first three. I thought the plot was a little disjointed. The characters are terrific, so I don't really mind so much. "
— Sandra, 5/21/2011" I really liked this one. Eve and Roarke are still great together. Their relationship continues to evolve and I love any scene with them together. The mystery was also thoroughly creepy. Totally addicted to this series. "
— thuy, 4/6/2011" Such fun these books : ) "
— Jane, 4/5/2011" I love these books. They are oddly addicting... "
— Eileen, 4/3/2011" I definitely am into this series. I love Eve and Roarke and this futuristic scenario. Great! I'm going to read the next books. "
— Filipa, 3/22/2011" Always like the action from the J.D.Robb books! "
— Deedee, 3/21/2011" I enjoyed this book more than others in the series, though I saw the villain coming from a mile away. Enough for me to keep going for another book or two. "
— Beth, 3/18/2011" I was on the fence about rating this book 4 or 5 stars. The plot was really good in this installment of Eve Dallas but the ending ruined it a little. It was too abrupt, like the plot was getting really good and it just got cut off and ended. Otherwise definately one of the best. "
