Her career in homicide has taken her into the darkest depths of New York City’s underground—and sometimes Lieutenant Eve Dallas feels more comfortable in those kinds of places than in the high-rise, high-society world of her billionaire husband, Roarke.
But while she’s no party girl, she’s managing to have a reasonably good time at the celebrity-packed bash celebrating the debut of The Icove Agenda. This time it’s Eve, not Roarke, who’s a guest of honor, since the film is based on one of her famous cases. Her partner, Peabody, is practically giddy over rubbing shoulders with Hollywood royalty. Eve, on the other hand, is more likely to roll her eyes than have stars in them. But she has to admit it’s a little spooky seeing the actress playing her, who looks almost like her long-lost twin.
Not as unsettling, though, as seeing K. T. Harris, the actress who plays Peabody—drowned in the lap pool on the roof of the director’s luxury building. Talented but rude, and widely disliked, K.T. had made an embarrassing scene during dinner. She clearly liked being the center of attention. Now she’s at the center of a crime scene—and Eve is more than ready to get out of her high heels and strap on her holster, to step into the role she was born to play: cop.

"My first read in this long running, popular series and it is easy to see why the series and it's characters are so wildly popular. One of the best things about this story was that it works as a stand alone read (as in my case) or a continuation of the series, which I think is important with any series. Story was fun with all of the actors and mystery was old fashioned "who-done-it" that tied together neatly and realistically in the end. I will likely read the next installment in this series."

“Robb (the pen name of Nora Roberts) supplies her usual winning blend of keen investigative work, striking characterizations, and enthusiastic sex, all leavened with a fine sense of humor.”
— Publishers Weekly“Robb excels.”
— New York Journal of Books" Terrible, but less terrible than usual. "
— A., 2/14/2014" 2/12. rating. 4- "
— Susan, 1/31/2014" Although I enjoyed the story, the narrator is another story. She made Peabody sound like an idiot! I rather have Martha Harmon Pardi from Talking Books Publishing read the "In Death" series. Susan Erikson and Suzanne Torren just suck! "
— Jennifer, 1/26/2014" I always like reading Lt. Dallas books, great read. "
— Christie, 1/25/2014" This one took a little to get into, but when I did I must say I like the Dallas character and Peabody. The story was corrupt and entangled, a good story! "
— Dawn, 1/20/2014" Always enjoy a JD Robb book. Like the interaction between Dallas and Roarke. "
— Janice, 1/8/2014" Another great story. I was so proud at how Peabody is growing into such a good cop. Nadine is really understanding Eve and what she will say and do. I love her saying about doing it sideways :-) I missed the snide remarks with Summerset- it seems like they are becoming friends... say it ain't so. "
— Christine, 1/5/2014" Love the relationships. "
— Calli, 12/29/2013" I didn't care about the characters and the story was light weight. I quit reading about halfway through the book. The writing is not poor but why waste time on a "mystery" when you don't care how it turns out. "
— Zach, 12/14/2013" Love, love, loved it! Totally awesome again! "
— Yvonne, 12/11/2013" It was typical of the In-Death series. Loved them for the first 25 books, but now they seem quite predictable. Still, Dallas is fun to read, so I gave it 3 stars. "
— Holly, 9/20/2013" Read every single book in this series so I know what I am going to get: A nice little who-done-it diversion. Always enjoy the characters. "
— Deborah, 2/3/2013" Brilliant as usual and confusing with the lead characters' doppelgangers all over the place. Fantastically set amongst the cast and crew of the Icove movie, this is clever and gripping, and just what I expect from Ms Robb. "
— Su, 9/25/2012" Very good, as expected from the Eve Dallas "In Death" series. "
— Charles, 9/15/2012" I love Eve and Roarke. They are always fun. "
— Marian, 7/17/2012" I liked this one. It was a page turner and once you found out who and how many had been killed wow! "
