“Do you still miss your little Bonnie?”
This one sentence, spoken by a madman in an anonymous phone call, is all it takes to drag Eve Duncan right back to that horrifying day years ago when her only daughter vanished without a trace. Since that day, her life has become an obsession to find Bonnie’s remains and put the pain of her death to rest. However, one man wants nothing more than to prevent that from happening. He is every woman’s waking nightmare: a brilliant, ruthless killer whose hunting ground stretches from coast to coast. But taunting Eve Duncan might be his first and last mistake....
For Eve is armed with more than just her talent as a forensic sculptor and her fierce protective nature. She brings with her former Navy SEAL Joe Quinn, an Atlanta detective who will do whatever it takes to bring Eve some kind of peace, even if he has to lie to her to do it.
Eve’s only salvation may be through the mysterious skills of another woman whose chilling talent leaves her as tormented as Eve—and as driven to bring this monster to justice. But when lives are in danger, every step could be a trap, and every inch of solid ground seems to be shifting under their feet. And this killer wants nothing more than to lure Eve further and further into his swamp of madness....

"This book was great! It was fast-paced, suspenseful, and really built me up for the next novel in the series - ended with a twist. I loved seeing Megan Blair for Pandora's Daughter reappear in the book and I have a sneaking suspicion it won't be the last I see of her. Can't wait to find out what happens next!"

" I did finish this book, because I wanted to know what happened, but I don't care for books with ghosts and supernatural. How many books has Iris Johansen written Eve Duncan's search for her daughter's killer? I'm not reading any more of them. I was tired of the characters by the end of the this book and I couldn't take any more of them. "
— Gail, 2/14/2014" same old, same old Eve Duncan, Think this was my last. "
— Corky, 2/10/2014" This is one of the best Eve Duncan books that I've read in a very long time!!! This was a great book - wait until you read the ending!!! Wow, what a great ending!!! So great!! I love Eve and Joe!! "
— Renna, 2/5/2014" Excellent book in this series...one of the best in my opinion. "
— Pam, 1/31/2014" Fairly good read about the ongoing saga of Eve who is searching for the body of her daughter who was killed at a young age. The storyline of the search for a child serial killer who was suspected of the killing of her daughter was fast paced but is getting tired. Eve is putting this search above the relationship of the man she loves and I sometimes found myself becoming less empathetic to her search and more feeling sorry for her man. "
— Patricia, 1/28/2014" I only read a couple of pages and did not like this plot. The killer of the chjild stalking the Mom. "
— Kathy, 1/22/2014" Wow this book grabbed right from the start and held me right to the end. I couldn't put it down. Checked to see where it sits in the series and was amazed to find it's like number thirteen. This book gripped me so much I'm going back to find out where it all started. "
— Patricia, 1/17/2014" The story has the same format as most of Johansen's other books, but as always Eve, Jane, and Joe are like old friends. In this book, I developed a liking for Montalavo and enjoyed Miguel's wit. Loved the twist at the end - a great way to keep the stories coming. "
— Beth, 1/17/2014" Good, quick read but I was disturbed/disappointed by the ending. "
— Kjgroulx, 1/10/2014" Another exciting read from Iris Johansen! "
— Paula, 12/25/2013" This combines two of her previous books. It is still with Eve Duncan but it also brings in the characters from Pandora's daughter. "
— Lucille, 12/9/2013" This is a solid read. Interesting and keeps you from putting the book down. I get tired of not knowing where Bonnie is though. My theory is the last book ever written will have her being found. Perhaps all grown and in a coma (due to the visions) or something along those lines. "
— Brittany, 12/5/2013" OK, getting a little far fetched with "Bonnie" in this series. "
— Frances, 10/31/2013" Finally back to books as good as the first in the series. Lots of suspense and action. Loved this book! "
— Christina, 10/10/2013" Good, but I am ready for her to find Bonnie...need to read the other 3 books that have come out...I have fallen behind in this series.... "
— Heather, 10/4/2013" What an excellent book and what an ending...or is it just another layer to this ongoing mystery. Can't wait for the next one. "
— Jeanie, 8/24/2013" A story I just seem to have to keep following. Fits into my literary candy category. "
— Hanje, 8/14/2013" This is one of my favorites from Johansen. "
— Nikkie, 5/4/2013" Somehow, I've ended up reading this series backward, starting from book 10. Even so, I continue to be entertained. "
— Lilly-Anne, 11/11/2012" So good - read in two days!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Could not put it down!!!! "
— Susan, 11/3/2012" Eve, I know this is a shock, but Bonnie is D.E.A.D. How long are you going to grieve? How long are you going to shut everyone else out of your life? I'm not asking you to forget her existence. But seriously, this is a downer. "
— ♆, 6/15/2012" I've read and enjoyed most of the "Eve Duncan" books - but they had gotten a little stale. This was fresh and more engaging than other recent novels in the series. "
— Jennifer, 4/29/2012" As always, Iris Johansen is a very talented writer. She keeps the reader enticed until the last page. "
— Lori, 4/11/2012" I love Quicksand...this is my favorite book by Iris!!! Joe can now see Bonnie and I just love it!!!! "
— Adrienne, 1/16/2012" Enough about Bonnie, move on "
— Sara, 9/14/2011" Excellent; Continuing character: Eve Duncan; Eve and associates hook up with a serial killer who may have killed her daughter "
— Joe, 6/15/2011" a surprising twist at the end. "
— Andra, 5/12/2011" Eve and family are targeted by Eve's daughter's possible murderer and serial killer of children...some possible resolution with the competition for Eve by Montalvo and Quinn...interesting side character of a "psychic" introduced...OK read!!! "
— Mark, 4/4/2011" I really enjoy this author and the story of Eve, Joe, and Bonnie.. this one having many twists and turns. Good narration, too, which always helps to imagine the story taking place right there as I'm watching. I've got to find the other books I've missed in this series :-) "
— Angie, 3/4/2011" Entertaining reading but absolutely lousy ending. Story dragged on and on. Waste of my time. "
— Hubjeanne, 2/15/2011" I really enjoy Iris Johansen books, it's been awhile since I have picked one up, this one the only drawback in my opinion is the ending, I wish there could have been more to it then what there was, but all in all a good read that kept you intrigued to see where the plot was taking you too. "
— Deb, 1/2/2011" Good, but I am ready for her to find Bonnie...need to read the other 3 books that have come out...I have fallen behind in this series.... "
— Heather, 12/19/2010" Eve Duncan deals with the possible killer of her daughter and finds a mass grave and encounters a medium. There is the undercurrent of the competition between Joe Quinn and Montalvo for Eve's attention. "
— Sheila, 12/3/2010" Eve was pretty annoying. She needs to see a therapist. "
— Ashley, 11/26/2010" I keep forgetting that she writes thinly disguised romance novels. "
— Paige, 11/15/2010" Good story. Just a nice easy read with good suspense right to the end. "
— Bonnie, 10/25/2010" Great suspense book! I loved the ending! "
— Kathy, 10/8/2010" Average book. Not anything to write home about. I read it, it wasn't a bore but not the best book either. "
— Sue, 9/21/2010" Wow this book grabbed right from the start and held me right to the end. I couldn't put it down. Checked to see where it sits in the series and was amazed to find it's like number thirteen. This book gripped me so much I'm going back to find out where it all started. "
— Patricia, 9/8/2010" Lots of action and suspense. Just what you expect from Johansen. Start this one early in the day cause you won't get no sleep till you finish it!! "
