"This was a nice addition to the Amos Decker series. If you've read the other books and enjoyed them, pick this one up, it's more of the same. Baldacci sticks with his typical formula, but adds some wrinkles to Amos by tampering with his super powers (synesthesia & mental DVR). The suspense/"who done it" aspect of the book was good as always. There was a "dangers" of drug use theme to the books. Overall, enjoyed the read, recommend you give it a shot. Not necessary to have read any other in the series before this one, but it does help. Spoiler alert section: No Melvin Mars and I would have liked to see the loss of Decker's super powers have some more severe consequences."

“Decker is one of the most unusual detectives any novelist has dreamed up…Highly entertaining.”
— Washington Post“Baldacci is a wonderful storyteller, and he incorporates wonderful characters into baffling conspiracies. …he takes on small-town America, capturing both good and bad elements. He demonstrates why these small towns are worth saving. It’s a theme he has explored before, but it still has potency and relevance.”

— Associated PressThe pace picks up considerably with each passing chapter until the inevitable ending that most surely will deliver a resolution at about the same time you are catching your breath.
— BookReporter.comAmos Decker shines again. . . The Fallen is David Baldacci at his very best.
— The Real Book SpyAmos Decker novels just keep getting better and better, and it's partly due to the careful in-depth characterization Baldacci gives his main character.
— New York Journal of Books" Quite a good story, even though as little far fetched. Good readers "
— Kate Dayman, 5/12/2023" I think I may have found my new all time favorite author in Baldacci! He makes me feel as if I know each character. Baldacci has a gift of drawing the reader into the book "
— Sherri , 11/6/2022" Really liked this..nice twist! "
— Lorraine Harwood, 4/29/2019" I like the Amos Decker series more with every book. This time it is a different setting without most of the team present, although they were mentioned. Jamison and Decker are on "vacation". The plot has a more intimate feel in the small town setting. I really enjoy the pairing of Jamison and Decker. Jamison accepts Amos eccentricities and still pushes him to be more than just "memory man". Decker's character is showing more sides (feelings), especially when he is with Zoe. The mysteries keep me guessing throughout the book. Can't wait for the next book! "
— Jennifer, 3/7/2019" I really like David Baldacci books, I've read, or have listened to, all his works. I like the premise of Amos Decker's superpowers/curse. It was a little disappointing that they could fade or be excised so easily. His kriptonite I guess. But still a great book. "
— Brian, 2/12/2019" Great Series! Amos Decker is brilliant as is the author! "
— Anne, 10/4/2018" Very much enjoyed this book. I have always like David Baldacci's writings. Love the suspense, and the twists. "
— Florence, 6/29/2018" This was a very good story, with a lot of characters to keep track of-you need to be paying close attention or you'll lose track of the story line. I particularly enjoyed the narration by Kyf Brewer. I did not care for the narration of the female lead (by Orlagh Cassidy), but I realize that may have been a directorial decision--they made her sound quite flat, which detracted from the story for me. Her narration of other female characters was good. "
— lisa, 5/24/2018" The Fallen (Amos Decker, #4) by David Baldacci is a great, engaging, and well-written story. The plot is like a slice of "today's" America, town's that have lost their luster now that the primary businesses have shut down, the influx of drugs and its effects on the people, corruption within the ranks of law enforcement, and people struggling to make ends meet. What starts out as a vacation trip to see Alex Jamison's family, turns into a complex murder mystery, but by the last page of the book, all loose ends are neatly tied up in a logical fashion. This is a must-read for fans of David Baldacci's Amos Decker series. "
