A CIA agent's two-year-old child was stolen in the night as a brutal act of vengeance. Now, eight years later, this torment is something Catherine Ling awakens to every day. Her friends, family, and colleagues tell her to let go, move on, accept that her son is never coming back. But she can't. Catherine needs to find someone as driven and obsessed as she is to help her—and that person is Eve Duncan. She knows that Eve shares her nightmare, since closure is also something that eludes Eve after the disappearance of her daughter Bonnie. Now, Eve must take her talents as a forensic sculptor to another level, using age progression as a way to unite Catherine with her child. As Eve gets drawn deeper into Catherine's horror, she must face looming demons of her own.
Bonnie's killer is still out there. And a new killer is taunting Eve and Catherine at every turn. Is Catherine's son alive, or not? These two women endure the worst fear any mother can imagine in Iris Johansen's latest thrill ride, a gut-wrenching journey into the darkest places of the soul.

"This is really a wonderully good book! I love the gift this author has in getting inside of the characters and making them amazingly real! The author sets a good pace and weaves a thrilling tapestry of good versus evil. This could really be happening out there somewhere (is what you find yourself thinking) and the horror of it makes you want to turn away. However, you can't you must know more and that is what makes this book so exciting. There are an abundance of thrills, chills an mystery. This author is a wonderful story teller. Iris' greater attention to continuity and detail sharpens our attention, driving us on this thrilling ride to the final climax of the story. This is a well written, stylish, and imaginative work. A wonderul read! I want more of this story and these characters. I want to see this family triumph. I want to know that Eve finally get's her hearts content. Please don't end it here, but if you do. It is still a great book all the same! thank you so much for this opportunity! I had a great time. Chasing the Night"

" Action packed, and just compelling to keep you turning each page, ruthless and harsh....but once again Johansen dosen't dissapoint. "
— Teri, 2/12/2014" I didn't notice that this was a series book. Let alone the newest in the series of Eve Duncan. Having never read a Iris Johansen book I figured I would give it ago. It was a good read. But I must admit, I kind of got bored with it in the start and middle. "
— Jenn, 2/11/2014" This one really leaves you ready for a sequel. Of course, now I'll have to wait a year [or at least 6 months] for the next one. "
— Kay, 2/5/2014" If yoi like Bones and CSI don't miss this one. "
— Dennis, 2/4/2014" I read this as an audiobook that i wanted to return to constantly. Really enjoying Johnassen's suspense work. "
— Jacqueline, 2/3/2014" I was barely able to put this book down once I got it, read it in a matter of hours; it is fast-paced, gripping, and highlights the strength of women without any man-bashing. The characters are lively and likable. The book closes with a stunning revelation, leading straight into what I hope will be a sequel. These ladies rock! Well, the men don't seem too shabby, either. This is a great read for anyone teens and older. "
— Lori, 1/22/2014" If not for the cliffhanger at the end, I would have rated this a 2.5 . And it would have been generous. I used to read all of her books and couldn't wait for the next Eve Duncan installment. Somewhere along the way, it's become more like...same song, next verse. "
— Lori, 1/19/2014" Not a bad book - took a while to get into it and it had it's boring moments but not bad. "
— Lisa, 1/16/2014" This is the first Eve Duncan book I haven't liked. I just couldn't get into the story. "

— Laura, 12/14/2013" It was ok. I would have enjoyed more if I had read the first 10. Even though I didn't, I still found it entertaining but didn't have the feeling to buy the rest. "
— Tamara, 12/10/2013" I like the Eve Duncan series. You are left hanging at the end, waiting for more "
— Georgeanne, 12/6/2013" enjoyed the action as usual "
— Robyn, 6/30/2013" This is an Eve Duncan novel with Catherine Ling. It is when they go looking for Catherine's son Luke. "

— Carolyn, 6/30/2011" Didn't realize this was the middle of a series at first. Good book, but I would rather start from book one. Will have to go back and see if I can get it from the library. "
— Selena, 6/3/2011" Love the new characters and the twist at the end <br/> "
— Cindy, 5/17/2011" better continuation of the eve duncan series than the last two books - probably because it focused on eve and not jane! if you like the series, you'll like this book. "
— Kathleen, 5/10/2011" Awesome book! Couldn't put it down. "
— Suequeenofchaos, 5/3/2011" The beginning and the end were okay but the middle got a bit slow. Not her best. "
— Penny, 5/1/2011" really enjoyed the twists and turns am reading the next book "EVE" and hope it's just as good! "
— Katrina, 4/30/2011" It was okay. Johansen has a habit of using the same adverbs over and over that are perplexing. How does one nod shakily? Or smile crookedly or unsteadily? It gets annoying. "
— Susan, 4/26/2011" It kept my interest, but just didn't have any twists that had me holding my breath while I turned the pages. "
— Shane, 4/20/2011" Eve Duncan helps another woman find her son leading her to discover another lead to her daughter's killer. Another excellent Johansen mystery. "
