Things are going well for Lieutenant Jacqueline “Jack” Daniels of the Chicago Police Department. She has solved some of the city’s toughest and most high-profile homicides. Her personal life is finally in order. Her friends and family are safe and happy. And she just got a call that eased her mind like nothing else could: Alex Kork, one of the most dangerous criminals Jack ever arrested, killed herself while in jail.
But things sour quickly when a group of vigilantes on a murderous spree decide to take down a cop and the people she cares about…and they turn downright awful when Jack discovers that Kork may not be dead after all. The next eight hours will be the worst of Jack’s life. And that’s saying something. Fuzzy Navel is perfect for listeners who like their mysteries with a shot of humor.

“A well-shaken mix of action, humor, suspense, and sharp dialogue.” –Newsday
“A phenomenal thriller that never disappoints.” –Lloyd Woodall, Borders Group, Inc., Ann Arbor, Michigan

"Jack (Jackie) Daniels is called to the scene of a murder. The victim has been previously accused of sexual abuse and they find pornographic scenes on his computer. Before Jack and her partner, Herb fully investigate the scene, she gets a call and soon realizes two more victims with similar identities are murdered. They rush to the scene of the second murder but the sniper has not left and other police officers are also murdered. Mayheim follows. Before the dust settles, Jack receives a disturbing call from her mother asking her to come home now! She leaves Herb to stall the chief of police promising as soon as she can, she will return to give her official statement. When she arrives home, she finds a far greater danger. Love the author's sense of humor. I laughed out loud a few times. The ending is great, the reader is left not knowing the full outcome. Now I have to locate the next book in the sequel to find out what happened!"

" I've not read any other books in the series, so perhaps I am being unfair. The situation/conflict felt like it should have been part of a larger story. Instead it was as though the author intentionally streteched out the scene into an entire novel to get you to read the next novel with it's cliff hanger ending. Think I'll pass. "
— Richard, 2/13/2014" Talk about cliff hanger... "
— Tori, 2/7/2014" Another great action-packed, funny, mystery novel following Jack Daniels and her friends. This one was a super fast read with a great ending. "
— Eric, 2/5/2014" Jakie is a cop who finally has her life in order..and to make life sweeter she receives a call that a prisoner(an arch rival) is dead..She is so relieved..until a vigilante group and her arch rival come after her and her family. Not a good situation..Do they get out of the situation and does the arch rival finally die??? Read on it's worth it. "
— lynn, 1/29/2014" This is a bad book but I had to give it two stars because I actually finished it. I've enjoyed the other books in this series but this one was completely ridiculous. It just went on and on. I don't care for books written in the present tense as this one is. I checked the sample chapters in the next book, Cherry Bomb, and found out something on the very first page I didn't want to know. But it's written more like the first four books were and I decided I'd better finish Fuzzy Navel if I wanted to read the next book. I'm getting them free from Amazon Prime; not sure I'd be paying the prices for these. My favorite part of this series is the psycho cat. "
— Peg, 1/18/2014" Good book but now I have to read the next one in order to find out who died! I was not planning on doing that right away. "
— Paulette, 1/17/2014" I recently discovered J.A. Konrath and the Jack Daniels series. Loved all except this book. There were a few surprises and the ending has left me wanting to read the next installment. Overall I just got bored with a whole book of bang bang, shoot em up. "
— Pia, 1/9/2014" This is the first book I've read from this author - really enjoyed it and I'll be reading more of his stuff! "
— Cindy, 1/3/2014" wonderful! 5th in the Jack Daniels series, you dont have to start with the first to read this one. the dialogue is hilarious, Jack is someone you'd want to get to know. "
— Linda, 12/25/2013" I wouldn't have continued the series if this had been the first book. "
— Marlu, 12/6/2013" Murder and humor usually don't mix, unless it is a Jack Daniels book. They should have called this book Jack's series if unfortunate events. Enjoyed the book. "
— Wendy, 9/30/2013" This one wasn't my favorite because it had too much going on, too many view points, and the whole story line took place over 2 days "
— Deanna, 8/4/2013" Non-stop action. Couldn't put the book down once I started it. Yay, Jack! "
— colleen, 7/27/2013" ARGH! I hate Cliff Hangers! GARG!!!!! "
— Jennifer, 5/29/2013" Holy fucking shit. Konrath, I pledge my eternal allegiance. All I can say is, thank God I already had the next one. Massive cliffhanger, hope my guess is right. "
— Jacqueline, 10/13/2012" Wow, this ended with a huge cliffhanger! Alex is such a freak. You can't even feel bad for her because she's so psycho. And poor Latham! Goodness. Everyone gets dragged into Jack's messes. Hopefully this series ends well with the next book! "
— Mickey, 7/2/2012" Fast-paced mystery and action....ending left wide open for next book in series. I would read more stories with Jack!!! "
— Sarah, 2/16/2012" This book annoyed me, so much going on no one could be that unlucky. It almost had me rotting for the bad guys! ! Some great developments with the characters though and a couple of great twists. "
— Clare, 11/21/2011" Gruesome and violent, this kind of stuff is definitely my cup of tea. But if it's yours, you might like it quite a bit. The characters are well-drawn and the plot ticks along swiftly, every chapter a cliffhanger. One can see why Konrath has become such a genre superstar. "
— Colleen, 6/10/2011" I am really hooked on this series. This was a very action packed novel. There are so many characters that you really need to read the others first. And I can't wait to move on to the next. Hoping it gets better for Jack. "
— Marilyn, 5/22/2011" Who did she kill??! If I hadn't stopped at the library and picked up book six before I finished this one ... I'd be in a truly bad mood right now!! Kudos, Konrath! As a fan, I think you rock! As a bookseller, I've always been confident in your ability to deliver!! "
— Kathleen, 1/12/2011" just got tired of story "
— Jeanette, 12/13/2010" This one wasn't my favorite because it had too much going on, too many view points, and the whole story line took place over 2 days "
— Deanna, 11/27/2010" I enjoyed Whiskey Sour & Dirty Martini but was really disappointed in Fuzzy Navel. There was nonstop action in the book, but most of it was gratuitous, IMO. And the end? I've never, EVER read a book that's only purpose was to promote another, unwritten book. "
— Vicki, 11/15/2010" Loved it as usual. Konrath has a great talent for injecting crazy humor into the most horrific situations. "
— Alice, 10/8/2010" Nothing more fun than a psycho in your home threatening your family while having rouge snipers outside. And what an ending! Now I just have to get my hands on Cherry Bomb! "
— Sarah, 10/4/2010" this one kept me up laughing half the night I just couldn't put it down... "
— Mary, 9/9/2010" Jack Daniels, 5

Talk about complete opposites. Fuzzy Navels are sweet and lovely to imbibe while this particular drink is tense and downright scary to swallow. "
— Kathy, 9/5/2010" I could not put this book down......Even though it was a little far fetched I just had to know how it ended...Then they leave you hanging!!!! Looking for the next book in the series as we speak! "
— Stacy, 8/24/2010" ARGH! I hate Cliff Hangers! GARG!!!!! "
— Jennifer, 8/21/2010" Wow. This one was action packed from beginning to end, and what a cliff hanger ending! Ugh! Must read Cherry Bomb ASAP so I know what happened. "
