Lt. Jacqueline “Jack” Daniels of the Chicago Police Department is back, and once again she’s up to her Armani in murder. Someone is sending Jack snuff videos. The victims are people she knows, and they share a common trait—all were involved in one of Jack’s previous cases. With her stalwart partner, Herb, hospitalized and unable to help, Jack follows a trail of death throughout the Midwest, on a collision course with the smartest and deadliest adversary she has ever known.
During the chase, Jack jeopardizes her career, her love life, and her closest friends. She also comes to a startling realization—serial killers have families, and blood runs thick.
Rusty Nail features more of the laugh-out-loud humor and crazy characters that saturated Whiskey Sour and Bloody Mary, without sacrificing the nail-biting thrills. This is Lt. Jack Daniels’ third, and most exciting, adventure yet.
“Konrath creates the perfect blend of pulse-pounding thrills, side-splitting humor.”— David Ellis, author of In the Company of Liars
“Jack Daniels is a detective for the new millennium: sharply witty, deftly wry, and unabashedly cleve." —James Rollins, author of Black Order

"Phew! This one had more than its share of bad guys (and girls), plus a lot of torture and carnage, to the point of not being believable. But I just love the characters and the way the author uses humor to counteract the horror. McGlade is a hoot. He deserves a series of his own, maybe with Mr. Friskers in a subplot."

" Decent quick read. "
— Julie, 2/12/2014" Gory but good mystery and some funny moments "
— Donna, 2/1/2014" Lt. Jack is back and can take a beating and a bullet and so on. It is graphic but that does keep the pages turning. Not as many surprises in the plot but the details keep it interesting. I will continue on in the series. "
— Yolanda, 1/25/2014" rusty nail is an excellant book. love how he portrays the killers . couldn,t put it down. "
— Georgiann, 1/25/2014" Eh, not as good as the first 2, but still a pretty decent read. "
— Nicole, 1/10/2014" Blood, guts and belly laughs! This is the most real woman I've read and to think it's written by a dude. Go figure! All the secondary characters are all so well written. "
— Vfields, 1/4/2014" Another very enjoyable book in the Jack Daniel series! Looking forward to reading "Dirty Martini". "
— Mike, 12/25/2013" formulaic and predictable. Switching narration became confusing. Weird, disgusting violence. Bizarre crime. Way too happy of an ending. Would've been better to have re-read first two since author assumes familiarity. "
— Alissa, 12/11/2013" I enjoyed "Rusty Nail" very much. at time I was on the edge of my seat and grimacing and cringing along with the characters. Although the villain was easy to spot it didn't take away from my reading experience. Definitely a good read. "
— Ashley, 10/3/2013" I think I'll need to go back and read the first two in this series--I thought it would be fluffier, but it was a pretty meaty mystery , but a lot of death. "
— Kriscrowe, 9/4/2013" Listening to this one on my MP3 player. It's great and the narrators are wonderful. "
— Susan, 8/20/2013" I like this series. Starting the next book tonight. "
— Deanna, 7/4/2013" This story was so sick and disturbing but oh so good. I did find it a bit slow in parts but I loved it. and i ave a crush on Phin. "
— Lynne, 6/25/2013" Jack just thought she was finished with the Cork family. Well after the death of the Gingerbread Man killer, Jack and everyone she loves find themselves knee-deep in his family. And this is one family reunion where everybody dies! "
— Debra, 6/19/2013" The third book in the Jack Daniels series really delivers! A great, thrilling ride- I'm looking forward to the next one. "
— Janet, 5/14/2013" Fast-paced, quite inventive killers, still funny. "
— Deyara, 3/30/2013" This is a very entertain audio book. "
— Hanny, 2/5/2013" I'm a Jack Daniels junkie and this one is great, as usual. These books are just fast paced and full of action. "
— Terri, 12/15/2012" I did enjoy this book but it got slightly too gory for me. I think I am mentally scarred by that crazy family. "
— Kara, 12/6/2012" An enjoyable one, though I didn't like it as much as the previous two. Felt Jack was a little dumb in this one. I saw that coming a mile away! "
— Brooke, 8/1/2012" Bud Kork, the modern day Albert Fish. "
— Kevin, 2/21/2012" At last, a book that is fun to read, interesting characters that you care about, interesting plot developments and a book that is hard to put down. It is simply fun to read----no prizes for this book or for the series, just entertaining reading. At times, a little bloody and gruesome but fun. "
— Randy, 10/27/2011" I really want to know where this author comes up with these storyline ideas. They really bother me. It won't keep me from reading these books - they are fresh in a way that they aren't predictable and cliche. But they are bothersome. "
— Carrie, 10/10/2011" another hit from JA Konrath.

"
— Joe, 9/28/2011" This is another good Jaqueline Daniels novel that survived and thrived in spite of way too much violence. Konrath's lively dialogue and clever use of words makes up for the unlikely sequence of events that makes up the plot. "
— Joan, 9/20/2011" Jack is up against a psycho determined to poison as many people as possible. Fast and furious. Hard to put down. "
— Moondance, 8/6/2011" Read this one in three hours. funny and Gory.. "
— Elena, 8/5/2011" While I thought the poison angle was clever and suspenceful, I just couldn't give this 3 stars... Way too much suspension of disbelief when Jack and friends were confronted by the bad guy. They should have died several horrid deaths yet always managed to escape! "
— Heidi, 7/19/2011" I absolutely love this series! If you like grit & humor, you have to try these books. "
— Carol, 5/19/2011" A serial poisoner? The stress has thickened for Jack Daniels. Either find this guy or thousands will die. Can she do it in time? :-) "
— William, 5/17/2011" Perhaps even better then the first two volumes.
What is not to love about this?
The Chemist
The Trap House
The Toilets
Brilliant "
— Jassanja, 5/4/2011" I enjoy this series - especially for some mindless entertainment. Pretty much the same as the 3 prior books, but I have such low expectations that these books never cease to provide me with a quick read and a distraction. I'm sure I'll get to #5 soon. "
— Bridget, 2/3/2011" Funny, fast, and hardboiled all at the same time. You just don't see that everyday! "
— Vfields, 1/23/2011" Funny Funny book. I laughed out loud a few times. I'm looking forward to reading others by this author. "
— Bud, 1/23/2011" Great story. Intense and a real roller coaster ride. "
