Publisher Description

Start with a tough but vulnerable Chicago cop. Stir in a psychopath with a unique mental condition that programs him to kill. Add a hyperactive cat, an ailing mother, a jealous boyfriend, a high-maintenance ex-husband, and a partner in the throes of a mid-life crisis. Mix with equal parts humor and suspense, and enjoy Bloody Mary.

When Jack receives a report of an excess of body parts appearing at the Cook County Morgue, she hopes it’s only a miscount. It’s not. Even worse, these extra limbs seem to be accessorized with Jack’s handcuffs.

Someone has plans for Jack. Very bad plans. Plans that involve everything and everyone that she cares about.

Jack must put her train wreck of a personal life on hold to catch an elusive, brilliant maniac—a maniac for whom getting caught is only the beginning…

"A good follow up to Whiskey Sour ...short chapters & the story fires through at a cracking pace. Although, the killer is easy to spot and Alan .... what a whelk !! As for Jack wearing 'slacks'...Unless that's an American thing, only old men wear 'slacks' up North as they find the elasticated waist more comfortable ..... maybe it's handy for the gun ......."

" I didn't like this one as much as the first. I felt that the killer was very over the top and the killings seemed excessive and unnecessary. I just didn't care for the plot in this book. 3.5 stars "

" Again, I'm just reading fluff books this summer and I like all the J.A Konrath books in this series. It doesn't take itself too seriously (C'mon, the detective is Jack(lyn) Daniels) but it's a quick read and fun. "

" While this book wasn't quite as good as the first one in the series (Whiskey Sour), I still really enjoyed it. J.A. Konrath has a way of bringing you into the plot, getting you to "know" the characters, and therefore winding you into the mystery at hand. Highly recommend this series! "

" Another strong entry in this series. I can't decide if I like where the author seems to be going - he's pretty brutal to Jack and those she loves - but the humor keeps pulling me back into the story. I'll keep reading, but I'm going to wait a while before I tackle #3. "
