"I'm so happy to finally have Carlos's story. I was intrigued by him when he was first introduced in Toni's and Ian's book. Carlos exuded sexual prowress and was very enticing. I love it when Kerrelyn gives us a look into her shifters. I love her Vamps, but the shifters are so unique and appealing. Caitlyn Whelan has unique powers and is able to talk to animals and understand any language withing seconds. Her and Carlos have some intense chemistry we see within seconds of seeing eachother, though Carlos tries to steer clear because he is on a hunt to find a panther mate to save his species. Caitlyn doesn't give up and does everything she can to put herself in his path. I really liked Caitlyn as the modern day woman, take what you want and be the aggressor. It was fun to watch and I had quite a few laughs at her skill at throwing knives and having every one hit the groin area. Having Caitlyn's story also gave us another look into the Whelan family and there are so many questions still surrounding the father and mother. I know they have a brother and am curious if he will become part of the story later on and if we will get more glimpses into the family. We were also introduced to some new characters, the marine from Nam and the lion shifter and a new bad guy who escapes at the end. Curious to see how all this plays out"

“A wonderful return to Sparks’ world of vampires and shapeshifters. Caitlyn and Carlos’ story is a great addition to the Love at Stake series, and the many returning characters make this a truly entertaining read.”

— Tiffany, 2/18/2014" I think there were a few things that made me enjoy this book so much. One I really liked the two main characters a lot. Two the conflict being that they had a forbidden love for each other was so sad and heart wrenching and could be compared to actual real life forbidden love stories like family insisting on marrying within their race or religion. Three I really like the concept of shapeshifting. Plus to be honest, Carlos is just plain HOT!! "
