" Dark lover was my first trip into J. R. Ward's world of vampires and I must admit, I was sceptical at the beginning. I'm not much of a vampire person, but I gave it a shot and I was not disappointed at all.
I didn't, and still don't, hold much love for Wrath who's the main character in this book, but all the other characters in the book creates such an illusion of a world you can toss yourself right into.
The vampires, once I got hold of the idea that they're (in this verse) a subspecies of humans or maybe the other way around, which causes them to be like humans in many ways, but still have dozens of traits that doesn't compare to humans.
They're big macho men, but they really are not in touch with themselves and their doubt, thoughts, worries and dialogue is written in a downright hilarious language that connects you with them and makes you want to follow along for the rest of the ride - just to see if you make it, or hit the wall with a crash.
Also... there's a lot of naked, and, well... that does not make it less appealing.
On a final note, the narrator of this series, Jim Frangione, makes an awesome job of bringing these characters to life. It's worth every minute of the story. "
