Seventeen, dead, and in charge of heaven's dark angels—all itching to kill someone.
Madison Avery's dreams of ever fitting in at her new school died when she did. Especially since she was able to maintain the illusion of a body, deal with a pesky guardian angel, and oh yeah, bring the reaper who killed her to his untimely end. Not exactly in-crowd material. It's amazing that her crush, Josh, doesn't think she's totally nuts.
Now Madison has learned that she's the dark timekeeper, in charge of angels who follow the murky guidelines of fate. Never one to abide by the rules, she decides it's time for a major change to the system. With the help of some unlikely allies, Madison forms a rogue group of reapers who definitely don't adhere to the rules of the heavens.
But as she grapples with the terrifying new skills that come with being a timekeeper, Madison realizes she may not be prepared for what lies ahead—unless she gets some seriously divine intervention.

"As the sequel to a book I enjoyed I was predisposed to like Early to Death. It had the same cute tone and it boosted it's likeability by having characters besides Madison that Harrison delves into. It's really short so the ending runs into you like a telephone pole you didn't see coming."

“An amusing and entertaining jaunt of an urban fantasy.”
— VOYA“Abounds with originality and introduces us to rich characters…is sure to introduce [Harrison] to a whole new generation of readers.”
— Arkansas Democrat-Gazette" Not quite as good as the first book. Still, it was engaging, though it felt short and somewhat incomplete. I'm definitely going to get my hands on the third book... "

— Nancy, 7/11/2013" I found myself immensely interested in this book after having finished the first. Both were great and this one holds up to the usual. I thought this one had a little less kick to it, but it was still worth the read. "
— Haley, 5/21/2013" Tried to get back into this series but it just didn't work. The first book was pretty good and grabbed my attention but getting into this book was boring and just not worth it. I'm sad to say it, but this is another series I'm going to have to drop. "
— Grace, 1/6/2013" This is just a super fun and different series. Looking forward to the next! "
— Ginny, 12/26/2012" I love all the main characters and the whole fight against fate. Somehow, I keep picturing Barnabas as Castiel (Supernatural). "
— eXtreme, 11/28/2012" I can't believe I didn't read this series sooner. I think I was afraid Kim Harrison was gong to be one of those authors who writes adult books and then feels they have to dumb everything down for teens. But this series isn't like that. "
