" I liked this collection of stories by the author I have heard of her and always wanted to read stuff by her, but never actually got the chance so I thought this was a good place to start. Most of the stories really grabbed me and the couple that didnt I still liked just not as much. There is an Anita Blake story which made me excited to start that series since that is in my list of things to read as soon as they get here. I also enjoyed reading the intoroduction although there were a few times she talked about how stories got rejected and that got a little annoying after the first couple. "

" A collection of Laurell Hamilton's short stories. There are only a few stories that star Anita Blake the rest are great works that are fast and fun. "

" This isn't the typical book that I would've seen, it's short stories the author has written mostly (but not all) about Anita Blake (and other characters). "

" This is the second time I have read through Strange Candy. It is a good mix of stories. Some are great, some are not, but it is a great read for those who like Laurell K. Hamilton. "

" Fairly uneven but on a whole enjoyable. A good read for a lazy hot day to be sure. The fantasy stories were definite low points, the fresh setting stories the high points. "

" Since I've read everything I can get my hands on by LKH I might be biased. But I love love love her short stories. In this collection my all time favorite "Here be Dragons". In these stories we get to see LKH play. I'm just glad she lets is watch. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Kari | 11/15/2012

" Most notable for including the first "Anita Blake" short written, pre-"Guilty Pleasures". Also, includes the post-"Blue Moon" short that was featured in "Bite". "

" Short stories. I occasionally read short stories. These have Hamilton brand but being short stories are not padded like her novels. Maybe she should write more short stories and fewer novels. But, alas, novels sell much better. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Lesli | 5/11/2012

" Wish they weren't short stories! Each one could be a novel on its own. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 chris | 3/24/2012

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Lily | 1/5/2012

" I found this book really good and sometimes hor-ific. My favorite stories were the one that is written in the same world as Nightseer. The other favorite was here Be Dragons. Wow. If you like LKH, a must read, if you dont, heck try it anyway. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Jen | 7/20/2011

" I ended up reading this book because there was a short story there for Anita and Jean Claude. She comes to visit him during a party he was having. They end up in his office and...you can guess the rest. I enjoyed the story. It was back during a time before he was boyfriend 1 of infinity. "

" A collection of short stories of varying lengths, subjects, settings, etc., I found this book to be a good way to sample some of Hamilton’s non-Anita Blake work. She’s a capable writer and I enjoyed the collection. A quick read and a great way to dabble. "
