Two powerful rival families of the spacefaring merchant race called the Tizarin are to be joined through marriage, and the U.S.S. Enterprise is chosen as the site for the wedding. Captain Picard is pleased by the happy duty, but his pleasure is cut short by the arrival of the Federation delegate from Betazed, Lwaxana Troi, the mother of ship's counsellor, Deanna Troi.
Despite Lwaxana Troi's romantic overtures toward the captain, the celebration seems to go smoothly until the situation is further complicated by the arrival of the notorious and all powerful being called Q, who has come to examine and challenge the human concept of love. The festivities are thrown into turmoil, the powerful Tizarin families are on the verge of war, and Lwaxana Troi is determined to teach Q a lesson in love that he will never forget.

"What a great book. I love any Star Trek book that has Q in it, but this one was even better. Q vs. Lwaxana Troi! It starts out with action and doesn't let up. I would recommend this to any sci-fi reader bus especially to Star Trek readers everywhere. "

About Peter David
Peter David is famous for writing some of the most popular of the original Star Trek: The Next Generation novels, including Imzadi and A Rock and a Hard Place. His original works include the Arthurian novel Knight Life and the quirky werewolf story Howling Mad. He single-handedly revived the classic comic book series The Incredible Hulk and has written just about every famous comic book superhero. He collaborated with J. Michael Straczynski on the Babylon 5 comic book series, and with Bill Mumy, he created the Nickelodeon television series “Space Cases.” In his spare time, he writes movie screenplays, children’s books, and television scripts.
About Majel Barrett
John de Lancie is an actor and voice-over artist known for his numerous television roles, including Star Trek, Stargate SG-1, and Breaking Bad. He has also been featured in the popular Assassins Creek video game series and has appeared on stage at the American Shakespeare Festival, the Seattle Repertory Company, and the Old Globe, among others. He is married to actress-singer Marnie Mosiman, and they have two sons, Keegan and Owen.
