L.A. Homicide Detective Peter Decker never wanted the perils of his job to touch his family. But now his two worlds have collided.
A first year rookie with the LAPD's Hollywood Division, Cynthia Decker became a cop against her father, Peter Decker's, wishes. But police work is in her blood, and she's determined to make it on her own -- even now, when her razor sharp instincts for danger are telling her that something is very wrong...
The signs are impossible to ignore: things being moved around in her apartment, the destruction of personal effects. But it's a harrowing trip down a dark canyon road that confirms Cindy's worst fears. Someone fiendishly relentless, and with decidedly evil intentions, is stalking her. And with Peter Decker isolated from her troubles by his own investigation into a disturbing series of car-jackings, it's up to Cindy alone to find out who in her personal and/or professional life wants her frightened or harmed...or dead.

"This book was incredible. I picked it up from Barnes & Noble for a book report for 7th grade and ending up loving it. This was my very first police procedural novel. The main character; Cindy Decker is fun and quirky and makes it impossible for you not to love her. I recommend this one to those of you who love a good thriller. And although it is so good, I recommend reading the other 11 books in the series first even though I hadn't at the time. (Only because I was unaware.) The first 11 have little to no mention of Cindy because they're all about her dad; Peter Decker which was a drawback for me at first, because I love Cindy so much, but Peter is awesome in his own way."

“A terrific addition to the Decker Genealogy.”

— St. Louis Post-Dispatch“The complex Cindy is a most welcome addition to Kellerman’s cast.”

— cj, 5/22/2018" Loved this book !! Kept me on the seat of my chair! Love this series of books.. Faye Kellerman has a way of keeping you wanting more! "
— cj, 5/22/2018" Focuses a good deal on Lieutenant Decker's now-grown daughter Cindy and her rookie days as a street cop in LA. "
— Reese, 2/15/2014" One of her good ones! I'm a sucker for the combination of a strong (but wounded) female character, a loving (but dysfunctional) family, and a thoughtful mystery. "
— Anna, 2/7/2014" Not my favorite in the series. Didn't like Cindy (Decker's daughter) character...she was just too cocky...almost to stupid. Hopefully her character evolves. "

— Alan, 1/12/2014" Cindy is not a very likeable person as an adult character. I found it tiresome that she behaved like a 14 year old when her father was clearly worried about her. I suppose she has to be that way to lend some interest to the book. I generally like Faye K's books, but this one fell a bit short. "
— Judy, 1/10/2014" Sadly just not as good as usual . "
— Helena, 1/5/2014" Ugh, picked up in a B&B and had to read it when I forgot my other (much better!) book. I'm not usually a fan of these types of books but every now and then I'm reminded why. Blech. "
— Lauren, 12/25/2013" Another good mystery by Kellerman. This one features Decker's daughter Cindy, who is a rookie cop. I enjoy getting a glimpse of the Jewish culture in this series. "
— Kathryn, 12/19/2013" Not one of the best, but sets up future books. "
— Kelly, 12/15/2013" Quite mediocre. "
— Bill, 12/11/2013" Faye Kellerman's books are quick, easy reads - great for traveling. She isn't the fantastic writer that her husband Jonathan Kellerman is, but he is hard to beat. "
— Linda, 9/26/2013" If you like Faye Kellerman, you will like this one. "
— Karen, 9/13/2013" Despite an irritating lead character, it kept me page turning. "
— Stuart, 8/16/2013" Not too exciting. I feel as though the characters lack some substance, but maybe I've started on the wrong book. It is entertaining though. "
— Ana, 7/5/2013" This was good. Often suspenseful, sometimes humorous and interesting, too. "
— Ann, 6/1/2013" Faye Kellerman at her best. A true page-turner. "
— Deby, 4/23/2013" A fun beach read. Haven't read many of these mass market mysteries, but I should every once in a while. It's sort of like watching an episode of Law and Order. Fun! "
— Scarlett, 4/10/2013" This was awkward to listen to - maybe it reads more smoothly on paper. "
— Kathleen, 4/10/2013" A good read but because I was looking forward to a couple of books I still wanted to read, I found it longer than it needed to be. "
— Sandi, 3/30/2013" Gets a little confusing but still great characters "
— Cathy, 3/28/2013" Really enjoyed this easy to read thriller. . I love the characters and the relationships between them. Lots of tension and a satisfying ending "
— Judy, 12/3/2012" Predictable and not in keeping with the characters we have come to know an love. A real disappointment. "
— Judith, 11/23/2012" Another great read in this series. This one centres around Pete Deckers daughter Cindy which makes a change. "
— Pauline, 11/15/2012" A good detective story that keeps moving through every page. Enjoyed the story about the police aspect of it and the family side to the story, and of course figuring it out! "
